spark plugs...

I have two six cylinder watercooled Hondas. I don't think
much about spark plugs.

I took off on the black bike (1800 Valkyrie) and for the
first time ever: it ran awful!

I started checking stuff and finding nothing. When I got
to the spark plugs, they were all a good color, but visibly
worn, the gaps were off. They had almost 50,000 miles on them.
I see now the book says change 'em at 16,000.

Anywho... Chewey runs great again and I didn't have to
resort to the next step - gas tank removal airbox rigmarole.

Valker correct me if I am wrong but didnt you tell me that you checked your plugs at 50k and put them back for another 50k before needing replacement?

So many Valker stories but they are being from Texas maybe tall tales     :cooldude:  ;D

I think BigBF 1st replaced mine around 50k

Yes, I have done that on more than one occasion. The last set of plugs I bought must have been fake NGKs. The bike immediately ran badly. I put the 100,000 mile iridiums back in. No issues.
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

When I first got TheBeast , it hated  rain, it would  sputter  abd  gag.

In it's  case  it was  the  wires, Plugs  were  fine..

I  just changed  the  oil and  that HiFlo filter, but it's  still jacked up.
Tire  changed , but no time  to reistall just yet.
Plus I want to give  the rim some  love, it's  been 10K since.
With it on the  tailgate it's  a  good  height to work on it.

With out Don I don't have  my extra muscle and  hands when I  need  it..
That does  bother  me  at times.

When the title line on Amazon contains NGK DPR7EA-9, it reads like the real thing.  Down in the description it says "Direct replacement for OE numbers DPR7EA-9, 5129".  Tricky.  Rock Auto and Partzilla have real NGK at less than $3 each.  Add 6 of those to an order and save on shipping.

At $18 a set, a spark plug change costs less than an oil change. If you change them out a little early, it isn't a big dollar mistake.

My new spark plugs were Honda branded NGKs. I probably got them from partzilla.
Each one had the gap set precisely in the middle of the range. I see they are
$2 each there now. I bought mine a few years ago...
