Me and Carolyn decided to travel there on Wayah road,
which causes us to take 23 north out of Clayton GA.
instead of the normal "stay on 76" towards Warne NC.

We'd barely gotten a start up the hill on 76 when we came
to a dead stop blockage at Longcreek. We pulled to a stop
behind a line of cars that stretched up the hill and out
of sight right where a dead end dirt road intersected
76. I pulled there into the shade and we waited a half
hour or 45 minutes. Every now and then we'd think the
log jamb was breaking as some cars came down the hill,
but they were just people nearer the front turning
around. Turns out a tractor trailer had overturned
closing both lanes. Anywho... we went back down to
Westminster, over to Walhalla and up 28 until,
finally!, we got to Clayton on Warwoman road. Only
to find that 23 was under construction most of the
way to Franklin  :crazy2:  ...

Wayah road was terrific, the colors were the best
I saw all weekend...

We got to the Phillips Motel so late everyone was worried
about us...

On Saturday me and Keith were remembering how, not so
long ago, these rides always involved KSU 9:00! We were
remembering this as we sat around the fires and stuff
all day on Saturday.

We got our stuff together on Sunday morning by 10:00.
There was a hard frost on the Log Truck's seats and
windshield when I first came out. By 10:30 we were
thirty miles down the road past Andrews, turning into
our breakfast place, a good diner. Stanley Steamer and
Randy pulled in a few minutes later. We had a great
ride home on 76, the dog was happy when we got home:

Here's an FCR picture from one of those KSU 9:00! days.
The valley where Andrews is was filled with dense fog...

Yup, there's a happy dog!

Turns out not what or where,
but who you ride with really matters

The only time Iris and I went we got there to the motel a little late. Walked over to the restaurant if my rememberer is working correctly across the street and met you and ate with or next to you Mike.  Probably one of the first Fall color rides.  Good times.  Glad you and Carolyn can still go.  I believe you were solo that trip.
