Spark plugs apparently are scarce in these parts.

I was about to start prepping the trike for winter storage so went out to buy fresh antifreeze, oil/filter, spark plugs...NGK DPR7ea-9. The sparklers currently installed are left over from my old motor and are the "-8ea" version meant more for long distance hi-speed travels. I don't travel fast or long distances anymore...per corider request which I'm ok with at this stage of my life. So I digress! Finding oil, filter, and antifreeze was easy. Nobody carried the new plugs, they came close but no. After visiting 5 different parts houses in the Green Bay area, most told me they could order them in and the cost per plug approached $10 which included s/h & tax. I said no thanks and went home to sulk. I was on the 'puter later so decided to see what Amazon had and BINGO, they offered a set of four for just over $15 and delivery today, less than 24 hrs. later so I ordered two sets. Using my daughter's Prime account it had no shipping so with tax it came to $4.08 each. Now waiting on delivery, sometime after 1500 hrs. today. Weather is unseasonably warm at 71 so will probably take a short ride to stir the fluids prior to changing them. Next week will probably be when I put it into hibernation mode for the next 5-6 months. If we weren't a 2-car family, I'd keep it here and retrofit the handlebar controls to HD's. They work better, have a separate button for each turn signal, start button function is less prone to issues, plus...they're ALL CHROME! That alone should improve mileage and make the trike go faster. As for rides, I've already made it clear that I plan to take the trike to the next Inzane.  ;)

The real question is are you taking the trike on a trailer or riding it to Inzane?    Either way, good riding.   :cooldude:

Ron, if my resident bed warmer goes with me then I have to trailer the trike. Riding 70 miles one way for a lunch meet-up is about her limit. She doesn't understand why anyone would want to ride a bike for traveling more than that, she's like..."it's a motorcycle, not a car." I tease, telling her she's led a protected life cuz there's hundreds of women riders that travel alone cross-country on bikes. "But what if they have to go pee?", I told her you stop and go behind a tree. That's when the conversation gets amusing since she said she'd never do that. Well guess what...2 or 3 weeks ago we here cruising the upper peninsula of Wisconsin & stopped at a boat launch park for some pesonal reflection in the solitude of quiet water and soft breezes. As we were leaving the parking lot, she told me "I have to go." Nobody was around so I stopped, out she hopped and scurried into the adjacent wooded area. I reminded her of what she said some time back about travel on a bike and needing to stop.  ;D

I Know she's met Bruce! She's met me and others. 1st full year I had Phatt Ghurl put on almost 14000 miles. Yuppers some folks-Not JUST Females-no understand RIDERS! And of All the RIDERS I've known and met none of us can splain our addiction! RIDE SAFE.

Glad you found a deal on the plugs John.  I put new ones in my Valkyrie years ago and took a short ride East of here to the next town, kind of a test run.  Leaving there to make a loop back home I accelerated a bit too soon leaving the city limits and met a FHP trooper.  He decided that I was indeed accelerating a bit soon and I had to take an online driving course in order to satisfy the piece of paper that he handed me.  So when the plugs get here be cautious of the test ride parameters.....

Terry, nothing like a performance reward to ruin a perfectly good day & ride. ;D

Boy , wait till I see her again...  ( have you been to the woods lately )  :2funny:

I don't know about being scarce. It may be the plugs aren't used by a lot of vehicles and it's all a matter of shelf space.
