My Garmin 2820 with xm radio is messing up. Thinking about buying a XM radio and mount it on the Handlebars. Any advice on units and wiring needed for this project. Never worried about it till the Garmin started acting up. Got to have my tunes.
Thanks in advance,
David

..

Cause I'm cheap  :) I got the basic unit and use velcro to attach it to the top of my clutch fluid reservoir.

This the receiver that I have used in my cages for 5 yrs.  I got them for $20 with a rebate back in the day.

Just bought one thru XM radio. Called them to see what I needed to do to swap over to a new radio. They sold me a nice one. Delivered to the house for $31.18. It was the one I was looking at. Should work great. Now to see if I can find a case to work with it.

Just wondering what was messing up on the Garmin XM radio. I have XM on my Zumo 550 and had issues with the XM, so I relocated the antenna higher and never had issues again.

When I had an XM Roady2, I bought a RAM Aquabox for it and mounted it to the handlebars.  They make a few different sizes now, so you should be able to find one for your unit.  I've since ditched the XM, but my 30gig Ipod fits in there nicely.  And the clear cover still allows me to operate the controls on the Ipod.

Started showing on the screen antenna not hooked up and then it would say product not supported. Could shut it off and then back on and would work for a while and then same thing. For some reason it will not update to the Garmin site. I even talked with Garmin and gave them access to my computer. They couldn't get it to update either. GPS works great and so does the blue tooth. So I guess I'll add the radio and maybe down the road buy another gps.

I've got the "Roady" from about 4 years ago.  Your mounting options can be answered with RAM Mounts.  You can see them at cyclegadgets.com amongst other sites as well.
