Muffler cover question

The muffler cover runs from just in front of the passenger peg to the
end of the exhaust tips. I just replaced the left side (clamps broke and
'disappeared') and thought I'd check the right side. The front clamp
is broke but the rear feels strong. Would JBWeld hold the front clamp
together or should I get some 'muffler repair' stuff. Will the JB hold
up under the temperature and vibration?

No intention to cut Skinhead's deal, but the same happened to me. In my case, I was able to drill a hole and put an aluminum rivet (no rust). It was on the underside of the cover, so it does not show unless you're laying on your back when I go by..  Might work for you...

I've never had any luck with JB Weld on exhaust applications.  I do not believe it holds up well with the heat.

No intention to cut Skinhead's deal, but the same happened to me. In my case, I was able to drill a hole and put an aluminum rivet (no rust). It was on the underside of the cover, so it does not show unless you're laying on your back when I go by..  Might work for you...

No sweat, If his can be repaired, that's great, I don't think JB weld will do the job though.  The pop rivet suguestion sounds like a good idea.  I was just trying to help a brother out if interested.  I plan to go with truck stacks and glass packs myself.

I would be a little concerned about an aluminum rivet, won't take long for the edge of the cover to cut thru the aluminm. (I am assuming a hollow type pop rivet) A stainless rivet would last a lot longer.

Actually, what I put on is a real rivet, not a pop rivet. The pop rivet has sort of a nail in it and I agree it would not last too long. What I used does not have the nail thing in and has a solid core. You install it in the hole and hammer the other flat.
