Solo Rack Question

With all the chatter about solo racks and how hard they are to find, I'm just wondering. If someone were to produce a high quality solo rack at a reasonable price, how many would be interested in buying one?

Didn't know those had gotten hard to find. I wanted the flat rack, not the curved one, and found one on ebay with the attachments for like $40. Now I just have to supervalk my bike to be able to use it!

I don't really need one (as a matter of fact I gave mine to a fellow VRCC member a while back). That having been said, I am interested in helping out the Valkyrie community and want to support those that support our unique group of motorcycle enthusiasts. I am willing to prepay for one if it helps to get things rolling. I'm sure it won't lose its value!

Just let me know if you get enough folks interested.

I have been watching for one at a reasonable price... The ones on e-bay have been going for around the $200 mark...

I can't justify spending that on a rack. I spent $75 each on two others for different bikes...

(Ace Cruisers) I'll wait until something comes along cheaper... I'll be watching with interest.

Def interested in one. Need a rack that is elevated up off of the fender so I can still ride with the throwover bags!

I'd be much more interested in a good "quality" set of saddlebag rails than a solo rack.

I'd be even more than very interested in a set of Hondaline styled saddlebag rails for aftermarket bags....such as the Tsukayu bags.

I would think it wouldn't take to much for a metal shop to make the correct mounting brackets for the model ZZ83067 solo rack that Show Chrome makes

I just happen to work in this type of thing ,if I could make the brackets to fit our Valkyries hole pattern to mount the model ZZ83067 solo rack that Show Chrome makes and you were to order the rack on your own what would the mounting brackets be worth to someone ? I of course would have to order the rack once for a pattern.

Just a suggestion:

You might do better to be a one-stop-shop for both the brackets and the rack. Maybe you could get a discount for buying bulk on the rack, then just fab up the brackets. Add $X markup for your time and effort, then sell the whole package here (classifieds and/or word-of-mouth).

As a consumer, I know I'd be more likely to purchase if I could just buy both the bracket and rack (including all required hardware) in one transaction instead of having to go to two or more separate places.

I have some 3/8" round stock and bender. How long, wide and high off the rear fender are the factory ones? I have the brackets from my rear factory seat to get the bolt pattern from.

I would definately be interested in a rack at a good price. I found one at Daytona Bike Week, and asked a guy shopping (wearing a valk t-shirt) if he knew if it would fit the bike. He told me to go outside to check out his bike to measure. I was gone about 10 minutes, and he bought it out from under me. I walked back to his bike and there he was holding it up to his Valk to see if it fit. Sure enough it did. I said, I can't believe you just bought it knowing I was interested and he said " I gave you every oppprtunity but you didn't get back in time". I just smiled at the Dirtbag and was on my way. He got it at my price I negotiated with the lady before I left to go check out his bike. $30. Any updates on getting these made?

Would most of those interested be happy with the pattern of the tubing? The one most of you have has tubing running parallel to each other, these will have a pattern as shown in the link. It could be two weeks or more before I know how it will work, and what it will cost when I'm done with machining and forming brackets, then taking them to the chrome shop ,packaging and shipping . I will keep you folks informed.

I think the basic pattern is good. The flaws in mine are in the bad welds, poor chrome, and poor fitment in the forward mount.

Speaking only for myself, anything under $100 would be a bargain, based on what I've seen in this thread and elsewhere, under $125 would surely be reasonable.

I seriously doubt anyone could produce a quality product in this price range. In this area it would cost that much just to have it chromed.
