another way to go with your key

Made a key cover using a grip end and JB Weld. I like it and no one (almost) knows what it is. On my old Valk (actually they are all "old") I used a zirc fitting just for kicks.
Used acorn nuts to holds keys on the LeatherLyke bags and left them in most of the time.
I hope to see some more ideas.

I made my first one in 1978 on a Honda 750....I've got a drawer full of them in the garage...Here's a couple shots one like you made.

I used JB Weld on one and a generic 2 part epoxy on another.
You may need to grind the key down to fit into the cap or whatever you use.
And be sure to measure/check the fit into the lock before you glue it in place.
If it's too deep or too shallow, the key won't turn. And then you drill out the epoxy to get the key out and do it all over again. a PITA

   Did that years ago on my Road*. Used a chrome semi lug nut cover. At a glance it makes the bike look like there isn't a key in it. Guess that is the  point. 5 minute epoxy works well to but let it set over night.

When reporting a stolen vehicle, one does not want to make a false police report.  If you say you didn't leave a key in it and it is recovered with a key in it (esp. a fancy custom key), it's hard to explain.

On the other hand, reporting that you left the key in the vehicle (assisting them in the theft) can have repercussions in an insurance settlement (as in there might not be one).  

If the thief kills or maims himself (or others) in your stolen vehicle you left the key in, a creative plaintiff's shyster might even argue you are partially at fault in the death (maiming ) of his client the thief (or others).  It's happened.

Ergo, I think those hidden keys are cool too, but I would recommend against walking very far away from your bike with any key in it.  

Do what you want.

(Yes, very few Valks are stolen... because they are SO damn heavy  )

Exactly what I was thinking. That little flipper would not look good on a key.

I made one a couple of years ago and soon found that you have to carry an extra key to open the gas cap because if you make the key short enough to look right in the ignition, it is too short to open the gas cap. However, I do like the looks of it enough to carry another key...Jim

Just mark the key in the ignition switch and bury in the fob to the mark... It will work in trunk , saddlebags , gas cap and lock the forks.

You do need to leave a hair more then the ignition because of the gas cap cover that slides to the side to uncover the key hole can hang you up if too tight.

I love this idea now, where would one find a chrome heater knob? 

I know, if I want one, go find it myself.    Just thought someone might know.
