It is repainted just before Memorial Day every year since he started in 1999.......

A different theme every year.    This dude is good and from what I have heard, he hasn't had any portrait painting training..

The one with Fuzzy was Harv.

The line up of bikes, if ya look way up at the right top, you will see MGM setting out by the mailbox, so in case they missed the tower and the big ole barn, they just might see the bike and get slowed down, and not get lost before they hit Jamaica, IA...

That is where the ladies in da car met up wit da local FUZZ........

Thanks for the update, but I'd of bet $$$$ Cooper was in Guthrie.

What is it, Guthrie belwo 141 and Greene above?

141 is the county line, right?

Well, that question is a bit hard to answer, the short answer is no, 141 is not the county line. How far from the county line is the problem as 141 does not travel in a straight line across the county. East of Hwy 4 141 is 2 miles south of the county line and west of Hwy 4 141 is 1 mile south of the county line.

I sure wish I could.  I grew up in NE Iowa,  even went to a one room country school.  No LIe.  We had heat and electricity but no indoor plumbing.Guess that shows how old I am huh?
Sure do miss that Iowa sweet corn and  little traffic on the roads, but don't miss those Iowa winters.
I still get homesick though for Iowa.  My brother is still on the home farm.

This last weekend the wife and I went out and prerode the route we had planned for this gathering. We figured as long as we were riding the route we may as well eat at the food stop and get their party room reserved. Now we have some details about our lunch stop. The noon lunch buffet is $8.95 for all you can eat, beverage and desert are extra. To moisten your taste buds in anticipation I even snapped a few pics:

The Soup Station:

The Salad Station:

The Main Course:

For the ride it's self we will be leaving our house at 10 AM sharp so please be fueled up prior to arrival. Our first stop will be at the Freedom Rock:

http://www.ticz.com/homes/users/bob/On-A-Rock/On-A-Rock.htm

We will spend some time there to allow for picture taking. Our next stop will be a fuel/potty stop in Adair. From there we will ride to our lunch stop in Elk Horn. We are planning to be in Elk Horn at somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 PM for lunch. In Elk Horn there is fuel available at a small station that has, I think, 4 pumps. While we are in Elk Horn we will be stopping at the Danish Immigrant Museum:

http://dkmuseum.org/

We managed to get them to agree to the group rate of $4 per person if we have more than 12 people. An added note about the museum, they will have a special Victor Borge exhibit there for those who remember the piano playing comedian. From there we will ride over to Audubon where we will stop for a photo op with Albert the Bull:

http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/6688

During the stop there we will determine if a fuel/potty stop is needed and if so will take one or will ride on to Guthrie Center where we will take a fuel/potty stop. From Guthrie Center we will ride up to Springbrook State Park:

http://www.iowadnr.gov/parks/state_park_list/springbrook.html

From here we will return back to our house where the grilling and chilling will begin!!!

The total distance we will actually ride is around 150 miles.

If you don't ride... you don't know!

R J

Damn it Craig, you fur getted to tell em we would be taking the Iowa Dragon Road from Springbrook to your house. :coolsmiley: :tickedoff: :2funny: & the Jamica  :police:

Kamikaze VRCCDS#0119

I wouldn't ride it like the Dragon right now, the weather hasn't been too kind to it and since it's a county road it doesn't get alot of repair... There are quite a few bad spots to avoid and for some reason when we were on it last Saturday it seemed like every corner had a BUNCH of gravel in it!
It's not WHAT you ride... it's THAT you ride!

NO son, ya missed the point.   I didn't say we'd ride it like the Dragon, I said that we would ride the Dragon.

I'd say most of the post above by Kamakazi would cover the one day meet. Come on down and I'll come on up from Kansas.

FYI the $40 motel is older and small but nice and well kept, we stayed there last year and she told me last week she has rooms open as of last week.

Raymond

Kamikaze VRCCDS#0119

MP, Raymond is correct, the latest info is further back up the page including a complete itinerary (sp?). We hope you can make it down!!!!!

A little more FYI reference fuel, on Saturday morning we will leave my house at 10 AM. The first fuel stop will be roughly about 45 miles into the route. If you don't think you can make it to there please fuel up prior to making it to my house. The closest accessable fuel station would be in Panora.

Good news!!! It appears, after the party we had last night, that the meat selection for the Saturday evening cook out will change from burgers and hot dogs to honest to goodness pork BBQ!!!! The stuff we had last night was the best pork BBQ I've ever had!!! The wife decided that we should have that for the ride in and in my best Picard imitation (for you trekkies out there) I replied "Make it so!"

Well, the time is upon us! This weekend is the 2nd Annual Iowa Ride In!!!! If you haven't RSVPd yet now would be a good time to do so! That way we'll make sure your mouth can get filled filled with some of the best pork BBQ I've ever tasted!!!!

Get 'er Done!!!!  :cooldude:

If we get the shocks for the Trike tomorrow, I'll be there with bells and whistles about 9:00 ish to hep ya out.......   If they no show from the warehouse out West,  >:( then I'll be in the Dakota.    Don't trust the knee just yet on MGM.   Tried him out this evening and almost dropped him on his side.......   I mean to tell ya, I got one 7734 of a load of adrenalin in very very short order, plus a sore knee in the process... :coolsmiley: :tickedoff: :2funny:....   I was able to flat stand him up from almost a 45* angle.    Never had him over that far before and able to recover...  I knew no one was there to help get him up, so I just grunted real hard, broke severe wind in the process, yes, I know that is more than you wished to know .............  God helped me also, trust me on that one.....  I said a quick prayer and he answered almost immediately.
