Choke Difficulties

The choke on my '98 Tourer is very difficult to engage.  When the engine is cold it takes two thumbs to move the choke lever into position.  Moving it back doesn't take as much effort.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Are there any adjustment points in the links or the choke cable where I can make the mechanism slide easier?  I'm pretty sure my choke cable is lubricated, but I haven't checked in a couple of years.

Spray some silicone or WD40 into the housing at the choke lever and work it in by moving the lever full on to full off a few times.  This made mine easier to operate.

It is normal on all Valkyries to have a very stiff choke. Don't worry about it, just be sure you push it ALL the way down to engage.

I have 3 Valks.  Two of them are very stiff at the point of choke engagement, the 3rd one takes very little effort.  Go figure....

On the right side of the carb bank toward the rear you can see the choke (enricher  ) slide move as you move the choke lever. I use my right index finger to help that slide move to the rear, makes the choke easier to engage and saves the choke cable.
If yours is real stiff you caould remove the chrome covers and use some silicone spray on the slide mechanism and the small pistons it acts on.

I broke my cable from the lever to the slides last winter and had to use a flatblade screwdriver to push the slide bar on the cluch side to engage the chokes if you move this side the other side also engages until my new cable came in. Try sliding it back and forth to is if these slides are dragging and need a shot on lub. After I replaced my cable choke works much better.
