Is there any difference in speedometers from 97 to 03 for standards/tourers?
There are different numbers & prices listed for all the years on the microfish, with the 2000-03 being cheaper than the rest. My tripmeter broke on my 98 standard, I'm going to order a 03 model from HDL while the sale is still on. I bet they are all the same, but thought I would run this past you guys before I order.

I don't know for sure, but I've been told (on here somewhere) that the earlier speedo/tachs have green illumination and the later years have orange. Don't know what years or what.
So if you have an earlier bike, you might end up with an orange lit speedo and a green lit tach.

Wouldn't that be the bulbs? I have shopped all around on line and found I can save as much as $250.00 + getting a 00-03 speedo from HDL.  I wish I could get the milage of my current speedo put on.... seems to me this has been addressed on here before...can it be done? |

The bulb in my '97 speedo is clear. The illumintation is green. I've seen a 2003 that has orange numerals in the speedo and tach when lit.

the years 1997-1999 inclusive have clear bulbs which illuminate green numbers. the years 2000-2003 inclusive have clear bulbs which illuminate orange numbers. if you have a 1998, and replace the speedometer with a 2000 model, then you will have a green tachometer with an orange speedometer. just changing to a colored bulb will not work.

I was only looking at the speedo price...maybe the orange speedo will be easier to read. Thanks Goose for all your info...I never knew there were 2 different colors. I wonder why they list about 4 different speedos for the 97-99 standards. |

T-BIRD....i have the orange in my 2000 c-t, and the green in my 1999 c-t.....i personally think that you can see the green better than the orange especially at night.
