Interstate tires

     I know i'm going to get a lot of different opinions on this, but what is considered the best (reguardless of price) tires for my I/S? I ride the bike as a cruser and don't do a lot of performance riding on this bike.

Yes, you will get plenty of opinions.  Here's mine.  I have an I/S and a Std.  I have had Dunlops and Avons on the I/S.  Because of a bad experience (and that will always color a person's perspective) in the rain with the Avons,  I wouldn't put another one on if it was free!  I have been riding on Dunlop E3's for 4 years now and have every confidence in them.   They also hold air better than Avons.  When I ran Avons, I was adding air almost every week.  With the Dunlops, it's just a few times a season.  Matter of fact, they were only down 3 lbs after sitting all winter.
 
When I picked up the Std, it had Metzlers on it.  I like the way that bike handles with those tires, so that is what I have stuck with.

Wow.... interesting.  I had a bad experience on the Elite 3's...... and the Avons  (Venoms) have been GREAT.  Dunlops did not feel well, handle well or wear well... both front and rear wore out at 6K.  Avon Venoms handle like a dream, make my VTX and VALK I/S much more nimble and handle like a sport bike (well almost).  Metzlers are good but wear out quickly.   I think I will be trying a new brand for the next set....  but believe the Cobras are very similar to the Venoms.

I have a Tourer, but, not too much difference except for the fairing and some pods.

FRONT:    Metzler for more tread contact on the road.   Had Avon's 2 of em, neither one lasted more than 40 miles.  It had a horrendous vibration with them on, would almost slap the tank on each side at speed with the handle bars.   Supposedly, Avon has fixed this problem.   I'm not trying it to find out..

REAR:      I currently run a car tire, Good Year Triple Tread, prior to that it was pretty much Metzler.

Get what ever you feel the most comfortable with and go for it...

Only you can decide what ya want to ride on..........

I have run every brand of tire made for the Valkyrie and this is my choice of set up....

I just put a set of Avon Cobras on my IS.  Today was the first ride.  So far...I am .  I took off a E3 from the rear.  Put it on at the end of June last year.  It cupped almost right away...and finally wore out (or close enough) this spring.  I didn't log how many miles I ran on that tire but I will not be putting another one on.  I ran Avon Venoms before they discontinued it.

RJ..... Have you tried the Shinko's yet??  I was considering them at least on the rear
