How many times is it something we did to the bike that messes us up.

Crossin fingers here that you nailed the problem down   From what you posted it looks good.

Now are ya gonna call the Mars folks and tell em what really fried those alternators??

I wont tell if you dont

NO..mainly because this problem had nothing to do with the altenators that ended up breaking windings. just voltage regulators. i still stand by my words that the extra thick coating on the MARS altenator i got ended up beating the piss out of the inside of the altenator and destroying it.

I staid out of this one, cause I've been told a few times I didn't know what the F*** I was talking about.   I won't name names, but ya'll know who you are.

But, I'll tell ya what I always tell the boys in the shop when we have electrical problems.   Have the service writer call the customer and find out what has been changed or added last.  Then go there and have a look see.    Sounds like that would have fit your finding.

I'm saying you got it fixed.........

Karen

Sounds like you may have found the culprit, and I'm glad, since I have a couple of Valk Trike T shirts that don't fit any more and was gonna give 'em to you... So far, so good!

Rocketman

Sounds likely.  Congratulations.  I know what a relief it is to find a culprit.  Keep an eye on the voltmeter, as you say you already do, but you should be fine.

sugerbear

glad you found it.
maybe i should go out and put some wire loom on a coupla wires myself :uglystupid2:

MP

Sure hope that is it.   You have gone thru he++, plus 5 alternators.

well gents..went for a 200 mile ride today..altenator was flawless. it used to be.
when the engine got hot the lower it would charge. say 13.5 when engine was hot
also pushing in my cig lighter would take it from 14.1 to 13.3.
NOW it's charging fine even when hot and when i push my cig lighter in it goes from 14.2 to 14.0.
So i'd say it's pretty much fixed..guess we'll see in a couple thousand miles..

BigAl

Now for a couple hundred LED lights to show off the new found electrical power.

Just kidding,, glad you got it fixed , those kind of things can drive a person to distraction.

Hoser

It happens, spoken by a man who fought a cylinder dropping at road speeds for three weeks, then finally took off a carb top and replaced a broken carb spring in twenty minutes.  Hoser  :o
