Guns & Ammo you take when traveling? (Meant for Gun owners only! Thank you)

During a recent mini-vacation I realized "all" I had on me in way of personal protection was my Baby-Glock, Model 27, and ONE extra clip (19 rounds total.) My bride left her carry-gun home and I didn't bring anything else along.  When I travel out-of-State I tend to carry considerably more, especially if the stay is going to be longer than a few days, but I sometimes foolishly forget to 'arm up' if the trip is a short one (think Zombie apocalypse!) .  . .  So, the question is; WHAT DO YOU CARRY ON AN OVERNIGHT TRIP FROM HOME?

I'm on the road right now in N.Ca. I travel with a Kel-Tec 380 but in this state I have to keep the magazine in one bag and the gun in the other. Sheesh!!

Going to Miami or Tampa? I take the HK. I bring a spare mag but rarely carry it while out of the condo.

Depends.  I either take my Glock 23 with 3 mags containing 40 rounds or my Kimber TLE with 5 mags containing 41.  Yes those round counts include the chambered round.

Our instructior in the Texas CHL class said that hardly ever are more than 5 rounds ever fired in self defense by a CHL holder.

I think that magazines were meant.  Most use the term magazine, I know that I do. A 'clip' always reminds me of a Garand 8 round clip or an SKS stripper clip..

I generally have a choice of a Smith .38 Centennial, A Sig 250 in .357 Sig,  A Bersa Thunder .380, or a LAA Black Widow .22 mag. The LAA is always in the car, I can throw it in my pocket.

Yep,that ought to get-er-dun when traveling. I'm having a real hard time finding an ankle holster for the 416.

I guess I don't understand the "I'm not saying" thing. What am I missing? (Britman; I understand your response! Can you even own a pistol in England?) Not answering a gun question is fine. It's your choice to join in the discussion or not, of course, but do you think there's actually someone here planning on assaulting & robbing you and if you say what you're carrying you'll be making their plans easier? Are the goons at the ATF monitoring this website keeping track of CCW holders and what they're carrying? Seems like a lot of work for any 'bad guy' or government agency to go through. Both entities are far too lazy to go through all that . . . I do agree a little 'paranoia ' is healthy when it comes to your family's defense, but if you truly believe you shouldn't let anyone know what you're carrying, why post ANY response?  I was just curious what other folks were carrying in the way of guns & ammo.

I find it mildly amusing that you think I'm somehow pretending to know things from experience, and believe I depend on Google as the source of information.  There is no bait in my posts, but I occasionally see some associative humor or irony that I may respond to.

Usually I'll have my sub compact Bersa .40 on the hip, Bersa .380 plus in the bag or boot, new Taurus TCP .380 in my vest, and Kit has her .38 sp revolver. When we go west in a few weeks its the 40 and TCP. Also a extra clip for each when outta State. Gonna take me awhile to pack up everything when we hit Illionois. 

I'd like to carry the 40 the whole time while we are there but....I drink alot.

XD9 subcom parkerized with OD green frame in a shoulder holster with 10+1  a 10rd and a 15rd on the other side as counter weight,(Love Uncle Mikes for this  Glock 22? shoulder holster. Bought it with the gun when it was so new that there was no support for it yet...) and ALWAYS a P3AT in the vest or pants pocket  with the knife clip attachment.  NEVER know if you might need an Extra "Pocket Knife"

Considering your almost advanced age and the state of the federal budget with social security and any other federal checks you might have coming in, Dollar General and Wally World sell a generic version.  Course they might not be as stylin'.

Springfield Armory XD Sub Compact in .40 S&W

If I need to be a lil' more discreet, a Kel-Tec P3AT in .380.

If even that's too bulky, a NAA .22 Magnum PUG gets dropped in with my change...

And if even THAT's too much, a NAA .22 LR mini-revolver gets dropped in with the change.

Unless I'm gonna be gone for a long time, I just carry the ammo in the mag + 1 in the pipe, or in the cylinders for the revolvers... If traveling into an interesting area (Only time I've ever done this thus far is on a trip that ran along the Rio Grande river in and west of Big Bend National Park (I.E. The infamous Texas/Mexico border area) I'll bring an extra loaded magazine for the XD.

And one of these days, I'm gonna get a long trenchcoat and go to Wal mart with this concealed, well... Just because I can (It's technically/legally a handgun):

Wow KW! Why such excitement over a simple little thing like why somebody says they "aren't saying"? And you ask why did I (we) even post at all? Well, I posted just to join in the conversation.

Since you asked...

I do realize that I didn't answer your question the way you wanted it answered and I could (should?) have just kept out of it. Why is it such a big deal to you that a couple of people answered your question by saying they would just rather not say. You might get exactly the same answer if you asked it in a face to face conversation with a group of friends at dinner. I look at this board as "conversation among friends" (or not friends) so I join in if I like.

If it makes you feel better I'll just refrain from joining in on your posts in the future unless my choices are just like yours. Or, maybe not.

Titan; peace brother! I meant no offense. I just thought the posting was getting hijacked into something I didn't mean it to be (Which I'm guilty of doing by the way!) When I posted it I was sure some of our resident left-wing socialists were going to distort the question into something it wasn't (and one tried!) so maybe I was being overly sensitive (LOL!) The question was just a simple inquiry, specifically directed at 'like-minded' folks.

I'm pretty sure we agree more than we don't, but regardless, please feel free to jump in the pond whenever you wish.
