Standard Maint. Intervals

I like a little feedback on sugggested service intervals. Are there some general intervals where certain items should be changed / tuned ?? I just bought '99 Standard and the previous owner appeared to be pretty good about the oil, maybe a little proactive ( every 3,000 ). The bike has 28,000 on it and I'd like to keep it up to date. I'm sure some of it is subjective but any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

TWO THINGS FOR SURE!  You do not need to adjust the valve every 12K, unless you like to keep "red lining" the tach.  I did the 12K adjustments a few times, but everything was either on the money or not more than maybe one valve out maybe 1/1000, so now I do it every 35K.  By-the-way, my '97 Tourer is up to 205K now.  The second item is:  With each new rear tire have the shaft pulled out so as to inspect, clean and lube the flange gear teeth etc.  Needless to say the same goes for the spline end.
Just my 2 cents
