Factory exhaust

(1/1)

mooserider:
Hi all
I have a 1999 tourer and I really lOVE the sound of my factory exhaust, i'm not interested in changing it out. But the problem I have is that the end of the exhaust pipes do not extend past the saddle bags and while i'm in stop and go traffic or stopped at a red light I smell very strong exhaust fumes. It's coming out the pipe and rolling under the saddle bag and exiting at the front of the saddlebag. I verified that it is coming from under the saddlebags I do not have an exhaust leak around the engine.
Does any one know if there is a replacement tip I can install that will extend the exhaust to the end of the saddlebag with out too much modification?

Thanks Keith

If you are smelling strong exhaust, it's probably running too rich. If the carbs have never been touched, I'd suggest you check the pilot screws and set them at 1 3/4 turns out from lightly seated and see how it runs. YES there is exhaust tips that are "turn downs" and I think "turn outs". Sorry; I don't know where to buy them.

Get your 18" extensions here:

Of course, if you're sitting in a tail wind, nothing will help, but these will keep the back of the bags cleaner.
