Audiovox cruise question

Is there any real reason why one wire is supposed to go to the battery, as opposed to being switched?  That just doesn't make sense to me.  Or, was it a literal interpretation from the automotive instructions, that possibly for convenience, two wires go to the brake switch - one to the switched side, and one to the hot side?

Unless someone has a good reason, I'm going to all switched.

I wondered about that too.  Hooked mine to the battery with an inline fuse.  After some thought, it is probably a safety measure so that if there is no power to the brake lights to cancel the cruise, it can't be engaged.  I think I'll go back and change mine.

I run that "battery" wire to a switched lead. No problem. Works fine and makes more sense to run it to a switched lead.

Tied them together to a switched source....an extra fuse panel under the right side cover. Been that way for about four years with no problems.
