Mike thanks for the info.     Wife said I had received it and filed it in my future rides folder.    Not on the Computer.

It will depend on whether I can get O2 lined up......    Lot of towns don't have O2 accomadations.   When you are on the hose, that pretty well restricts where or what you do.

PS:   I don't use Facebook either.   I got a pretty good virus from it about a year ago.

You know, a tighter competition would be for being the person with the next to the last word.   Smiley

Talk about a thread that would continue on in perpetuity! Think about that. But then again, since it was you Willow that said it, I'm sure you thought about it before you said it. Cool

How about it Willow, have you heard that also?

Never.  As a matter of fact, in the advanced specialty schools where members of various forces were mixed it was always a matter of pride that the Marine students came out on top.  These were schools that required much thinking.   Smiley

That said, there is a time to react without undue consideration.  Marines will excel in those situations.

The thought on the next to last word is that your position is dependent on someone else's action.  Rainman's example would have made me the next to last even though he posted twice as I would have been the next to last person to post.

Hummm, does that go along with improvising?

Did a lot of that in my USMC tenure.

When our Company needed something our Colonel always came to me to get it.

Karen, I never will forget the night we were relieving the Army of some lumber.

We had it all loaded up for about a dozen pieces.    Their guard came by and asked what we were doing, told him we were sent here to deliver this lumber.

He said I don't have anything on that so get them pieces back on your truck and get out of here.     Yes Sir, we fulfilled his  request.   By daylight their wasn't a trace of a piece of wood around our tent camp.   Lot of new floors in the tents, but that was about it.

During my 2nd tour in Korea, I was in Motor Pool as a driver.

Every month we would go to Soeul to get the beer for the enlisted and the hard stuff for the Officers.

We backed up to the dock, it was all setting there including another outfits whiskey.   We put our whiskey on the front of the box, right along with the other outfits and then loaded our beer on behind it to cover the Whiskey.    We got the beer loaded and I walked over to the guy on the dock and asked him where do we get the officers booze.   He said it was in the pile with your beer.   Told him we no found it,  he came over, looked at the pile next to us and said, sheet, the damn Navy took the whiskey off of these 2 piles.   He said hold on, I'll get another pallet full.   We tossed on 6 more cases and took off.  We gave the officers their batch and the enlisted got their beer ration along with 12 cases of the hard stuff....   Had a hell of a time keeping it hid till it was gone.   We didn't have the guts to try it again.

It was fun.    We got or should say we traded the Army Jeeps.   We went over to their base & got all the #s that were on it.

We back took our old Jeep, painted it Army Green tossed their #s on it and just up and traded with them one night.

Got to our base and the Marine Corps Green went on and the #'s on and it was almost dry when the Army MP's showed up.    They said we understand you gentlemen stole the General's Jeep and replaced it with an old worn out one.

Told them, sorry we just got this one issued by Supply and just finished painting it our color.   Dummies bought it and left.   Went down to the paint shop and asked them if they sanded off the Army #'s.    T/Sgt looked at me and said do you think we are stupid enough to leave them on there.   He also said they removed our #'s off of the old retired one we gave to the Army in our exchange.

We had a lot of fun doing Midnight Requisitions.

During my 1st tour in Korea, my whole platoon had BAR's.   We had some fire power.

All I could see was the freedom of civilian life.   Stupid dumb little 22 year old anyway.    LOL........

I liked my job while in the air force. Learned a lot, had a good time, etc., but...

hated some of the senseless things that went on during Nam. Things that had nothing to do with the war effort, and everything with some little SOB trying to prove that he wasn't! Roll Eyes Sad

My time on active duty (9y) was the only job I ever loved.  There were bad times/moments, but what life doesn't have them.  I planned/tried to stay for 20 plus, but got to be part of Clinton's 200,000 man drawdown in 1992 (both Air Force and Army).  Didn't make much money, and didn't need much.

I'll never forget when the Col's horses got loose and were running around on the Maxwell AFB flightline, and the cops wanted to shoot them.   That was some high entertainment right there.

Horses kept at the base?

Wow, that must have been a thrill.

As an MP, we would probably tried herding them into a corral, if that failed then, the old man might have ordered us to shoot them as a last resort.

We didn't really have to worry about horses on our base, we were in the heart of downtown San Francisco.   100 Harrison Street to be exact.    The building was right under the Harrison / Embarcadero exit and it is now a Post Office sorting station for the towns in the area.

I never joined the service coz I knew from the get-go that I just wouldn't deal well with being ordered around. I hear ya, Karen. I'm 53 and still have issues with authority figures (though I'm better at pretending I don't when the situation requires). I REALLY have issues with people who THINK they're authority figures when they have no legitimate right to it.  Roll Eyes

hey I am still here just been working my a** off getting things done around the house that i couldn't do this winter plus laying down some rubber on the black top with the fat gals.  I will catch up after I read some of the other post. the one I did read was talking about doing before thinking.  I know as a sniper I was always told when the target is in the cross hairs squeeze the trigger before you think. cause if you think about what you are about to do you would miss or not pull at all.
just noticed that spell checker is gone. oh well i think you can read this

found the spell checker
