Do any of you ever ride in shorts?

Saw 4 bikes at different times today and all 4 rides were in shorts, t-shirts and 3 in tennis shoes and one in flip flops. 

Personally, I like to know there's something more that substantial than air between me and the asphalt should I go down but apparently others don't agree or just don't care.

Anybody here ride nekkid or close to it in the summertime?

No. 

Jeans, 8" boots, belt, full coverage gloves...... and often a t or sleeveless t-shirt.  But no short pants. 

And my knees look good, unlike you guys.   

I do think that shorts and flip-flops go well together, on the beach.

Almost always wear jeans and good riding boots but have to admit that I`ve ridden in shorts a time or two if just running into town and it`s in the 90`s

I'll sometimes ride to town in shorts. Usually to the carwash. I will almost never ride without boots, even if I'm wearing shorts. (Yeah, picture that eyecandy folks!!)

I've had road rash, it sucks, but ankle and foot injuries scare me more. And those rubber thong shoes shoes melt on your pipes.

The thing that scares me about shorts isn't road rash. It's that on a motorcycle, shorts turn into "bee funnels". That scares me.

Certain words should never be spoken in the same sentence. Bees and nads are two of those words.

I tried it once this summer on a 12 mile loop. Definitely twice-first AND last time. Too many hot things on our rides. Never thought bout em being bee funnels.   Just another reason NOT to do it.   RIDE SAFE.

Depending on how hot it is, I will ride in shorts, t-shirt and running shoes.  Usually, I have my jeans, boots and mesh jacket on.  The mesh jacket, though, can get pretty hot if you are not moving.  As for nekkid...I am too bashfull for that.

Only to work when it's hot. Tee shirt, shorts, and always boots. 22 miles, 2 lights 2 stop signs, 55mph all the way. No traffic or town driving. Otherwise boots, tee shirt and jeans.

In shorts to work when it's hot. It's only 3 miles and its 4:30 am so hardly any traffic. Off at 1 pm and its only 3 miles back home. Tried it on a couple longer rides. Not liking it. Rather jeans. Chaps too if it is cold and the ride is long enough.

I'll plead guilty: shorts, t-shirt, tennis shoes (I do draw the line at sandals).

My half helmet is 20+ years old, so whether I have head protection is even debatable.

Min. full length jeans. Tennys or boots. I try and keep at least one pair of gloves in the saddlebags. Yep, I wear some sort of shirt at the least. tee, sleevless. Too many bugs and tiny rocks to go without.

My wife and I saw a guy on a two tone golden HD.  Sunglasses, short tan shorts and sandels. His shorts were almost the same color as his legs. I seriously thought he was driving naked.

I ride 90% of my riding in t-shirt and shorts and tennis shoes no problems whatsoever, but 90% of the time I do wear a helmet.  I draw the line at sandals and no shirt though.

Rather be comfy while riding and ONLY go to pants and jacket and gloves if below 55 degrees out.

I feel it is personal choice just like wearing a helmet or not.   Call me crazy/stupid, don't care what others think and never did.

Went around the block last week in shorts and no lid! Just enough to build up the oil pressure to test my new filter. Bee funnels indeed!! And boy are those 2 bros 6X6's loud!!

Funny ...I was just thinking about this topic (before I read the post) this past weekend while me and my bride were out riding.I see all kinds of riders with jeans , boots , long sleeves , gloves ,but...alas..no helmets !??!!!?? I prefer to protect my noggin first over anything else.

After the 40 mph get off I experienced a few weeks ago, sliding/grinding -- against the grain -- to a halt on a concrete bridge deck that had been ground out with inch deep groves on one inch centers in preparation for some kind of epoxy deck treatment, I can't imagine. I'd been contemplating fingerless gloves for hot summer days. After that episode I'm sticking with durable full finger gloves. Yrmv,

Nope.  Rode the Valk once in shorts.  Those heads get awful hot...not to mention the exhaust pipes.  

Hot/warm weather riding consists of jeans, tennis shoes, t-shirt (sometimes sleaveless), half helmet, wrap-around shades and gloves.  

There is an older fellow (looks to be mid 70's) that I see around town from time to time that rides a white Road King.  His riding apparel consists of a beer gut, shorts and flip flops.  It's not pretty.

I never ride in shorts except to pull the bike from driveway into the garage.  I always be wearin long pants (jeans or armored riding) and sturdy leather boots.  I have riden with running/hiking shoes while my boots were getting new soles n heels but that is only time.  Depending on weather and where I am going to be riding, long sleeve denim shirt or armored leather riding jacket.  Hot weather or not, I don't run the big roads (or over 55) without my leather jacket.

I did a 45 mph get off in a short sleeve T once.  Don't plan to do that again.

I prefer to wear long pants but sometimes because of the heat I wear shorts.

How do you prevent your butt from sweating like you peed your pants?  It gets embarrassing when you step off the bike and your butt looks like you sat in a puddle.

Every time I wear shorts I do think of the consequences of going down.  Top on my mind.

Only from the gym to home.  About 2 miles 4 days a week.  Thru mostly residential neighborhoods with 25 MPH speed limits. 

Otherwise I am a helmet and gloves ALWAYS(99%), jeans and boots ALMOST always (97%), and mesh or leather jacket (90%) guy.

I have to admit running errands on the bike, I have ridden in shorts.  The truth of the matter is, if you check the burn-thru rate of blue jeans (which most of us wear) sliding on asphalt, jeans don't offer much more protection, unless you have the kevlar jeans.  When I am going on errands on the bike, which I do lots of times, I generally wear what I already have on.  I always wear a helmet, but I do excite the ladies in shorts sometimes.  A Bee Funnel?  Damn, another thing to worry about......

I've done it, but rarely.  Usually, it is just to run a quick errand or something.  I know it isn't smart and it would really hurt if I went down.  But on the other hand, plain denim isn't much protection either.

I saw several folks at InZane ES riding in shorts, etc.  It is their business and most were in the motel or convention center parking lot.
Me, I've hit the pavement in parking lots, streets, and highways.  Gear is cooler than hot pavement every time.
