Sorry it was tongue in cheek. I'm sure he doesn't live under a bridge.  ;D  Anything political seems to really get him spooled up. It's not what you say but how you say it..................

Daddy O is in denial. Of course there are many many people milking the system. He can't find any? Is he nuts?
I know a leech online who got on disability back in his 20's or 30's (he's 58 now) so he could stay home and raise his son while his wife goes to work. He bought a high end bicycle and rode 20 miles/day, posts thousands of posts on Rolex watch forums (he has 2), told of a rock wall he built, gardens and until recently he was the paid caretaker to a friend's elderly mother. Does that sound like the life of a disabled guy? Wouldn't you think anyone capable of doing all that could maybe hold a job? Seems to me he got on the disability train when it was easy and since he has no soul is milking it for the rest of his life. He may legitimately have RA but it certainly didn't stop him from doing all those other things. Surely he could have worked. Now he tells people that he's retired. BS he's a lying Lion.
... and as I shifted into second I couldn't remember a thing she said.

I encourage any of you that are aware of welfare fraud to report it.

Fudd, do you think someone walks in to an office one time and then they are granted 100% of everything paid for the rest of their lives, and their kids lives, and their grandkids lives?  Really?  It doesn't work like that.  For every social program you have to PROVE need, and regularly.  Are there people who have lived on government assistance for a long time that didn't need to?  I'm sure there must be.  A very small percentage, and certainly not enough to even consider ending assistance for those that truly need it.

I don't know how many times a person has to go into an office or how many forms that has to be filled out.  Apparently, it becomes easy after you've been doing it awhile or doing it for decades.  I do know of a man that went to school with me that has never held a job, unless you want to call making five children; work.  His kids are now in their late teens to mid twenties, and none of them have ever worked.  I've seen toddlers running around, so I feel the sons and daughters have taken up the family business of collecting welfare, also.

My nephew, who owns a landscape service, tried to hire one of the young men.  My nephew was told, "I can't do it unless it's for cash...might mess up my benefits."  Families like this are not isolated instances.  There are families like this everywhere.

As far as your father's brief use of the system, I'm sure since he had been working and had been contributing to the system, they wanted to encourage him or pressure him to return to financial viability as soon as possible.  Someone's got to pay into this system!

What good would it do to report it?  There are millions of people milking the system.  What would you report?  "Why do I have to go to work, and he gets to stay home and draw a gov't check?"

crap, I pick up people who milk the system daily. Hell even my mom in law is to 'sick' to work. She's a pill popper to. Fibermyalgia is the biggest crock our town has.  >:(

Yep, I've got an Aunt that started early, only physical thing she's ever done was work out her reproductive system.   She raised a whole house full of kids, then grandkids, then great grandkids and so on.   I intentionally stopped any and all contact because I am ashamed of being related to her.   She even schooled her off spring on how to get everything from the system that could be gotten.
Learned that at the one family reunion I went to.   Won't go back.

Oh Yeah, she was reported but because it would punish the kids, her entitlements were never cut off.   The state should have taken all nine (at last count) of her kids away from her.    Yes, I've seen this first hand.   I see it still and I'm 600 miles away from that situation.   I see it just down the road in a trailer park that is near my sub-division.   I see it at work, yes, it is that prevalent.   The system is going to fail, we can not stop it's growth.   Those responsible to monitor are also encouraging other's to sign up.   Hell yes, it's job security.   I see it all the time.   The only way it's going to stop is when the whole house of cards falls.   Then, it's going to get ugly, real ugly.

If someone was hurt to the point of having to claim disability, they should be too hurt to operate a sport bike.

Yeah, I totally agree.   But, let's not forget that a doctor is the one that said what he could and couldn't do.   You want to talk fraud, let's talk fraud.   Had two employees that both had doctor's excuses for things they couldn't do at work, one was to forbid overtime because the fat witch had a job she had to stand during her shift and her Chiroprator said overtime was too much of a strain for her, the other "union members" that had to take her place on the over time were not impressed.  The other was a back issue the Chiroprator said the employee couldn't do certain things.   Oh yeah, that guy also raced his crotch rocket and dirt bikes but, he couldn't lift over 40 lbs. at work.

The system is overwhelmed with fraud.   My only warning is buy lots of ammo, it ain't gonna be pretty.

Want to talk fraud.  I decided a few hundred appeals on Veterans disability claims where the evidence clearly showed the veteran refused the medical treatment which the doctors were certain would improve the disease or injury.  Because if they got better/improved, the monthly payment goes down or disappears.

Now you cannot force anyone to have major intrusive surgery (risk) and I'm good with that, but simple corrective outpatient surgery or medication with no side effects?

I cannot afford to get better.

Jeff K

My son has a friend that got a big trust account from an airplane accident his Grandfather was in. His father got Grandpas business, and the insurance money. They cashed it all in and Dad and son bought big nice homes in a gated community. Dad filed for disability and sits at home smoking dope all day. And sonny boy just does the dope smoking part.
He has a girlfriend that had two of his kids, they live together and he rents his house to her so that the state will pay him for her to live there. Plus the rest of the living expenses, food, utilities, health care. None of them work because that would screw everything up. The first of each month they have a "government BBQ" that's what they call it, they have a pool party and they provide the food, steaks, chips, drinks, whatever, bring your own booze.
They have been reported but he claims he lives with his father and rents the house to her, and the state does nothing about it.

Easy way to escape your racist posts.  Just like the Republican lawmakers passing on racist emails, then claiming they only forwarded them.  You post, you get replies.  You are a racist when you post this kind of stuff.

The problem here is not with bigotry or being miserly of the ones on this board or in the US. The problem is a government that has destroyed and mismanaged every program that it has started. Social Security being one of the best examples. What I don't like is the short sightedness of Wayne and daddy to not see the genuine caring hearts on this board to help those in genuine need. Yet most here are wise enough not to trust the government to dole out our hard earned money to people milking the system. You are the bigots and fools for trusting a already corrupt government in doing something it has proven time and time again it cannot do. Your lack of understanding and misplaced trust makes you shortsighted. Because you trust the rulers instead of the ones ruled.  I would say that your lack of understanding and blind trust of gov is not what the Forefathers who made this country wanted but is decidedly UN-American and bigoted to those who see the blatant problems in the government managing of money. All would help given a chance but all would cut he hand off that steals or does not value the money that came so hard when earned.
"Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that."

Daddie O

You use the word bigot, but I don't think you know what the word means.  I will pick apart your entire post, with ease.

The government has not destroyed and mismanaged every program it has started.  Ask any individual that is on Social Security whether or not they are better or worse of for having it.  What was the quality of life for seniors before social security?  Go ahead, find someone that would prefer not to receive a check after working and contributing their whole life and I will show you a fool.  Government is just terrible at everything right?  Do you feel that way about the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard?  What about firefighters and policemen?  What about water treatment?  The Army Corp of Engineers?  Want me to go on?

Another problem many conservatives have is an addiction to hyperbole.  If someone sees good in a government program they have complete and absolute blind trust of everything government right?  If someone sees the President doing something good, then they must be drinking Kool-Aid, they must think the President can do no wrong, and he is a messiah right?  If you believe in a government program then that must mean you trust the "rulers" and not the ones "ruled" right?  Your logic is completely lacking.

You say all would help given a chance, but that is not so.  You say all would cut off the hand that steals too (you even go further to suggest if someone doesn't value money they should lose an appendage).  Again not so.  Not even in the middle east where Sharia Law dictates such atrocities does everyone agree.  Life is not black and white, all or nothing, everyone or no one.

I would say it is you that has a lack of understanding.  You see, I have lived on welfare and food stamps, in government housing.  Have you?  Or are you just speculating.  That is why you and your ilk try to justify cutting or completely ending help for the less fortunate.  Because in your all or nothing thinking you believe that those that need a hand up are ALL lazy and just want you to work to pay their way in perpetuity.

different times, different era. when you lived on welfare there was a stigma attached to it. now people brag about being on the 'dole'. you need to check into galveston government employees back in the day. they had voted for an option to stop contributing to social security and put their money in private investment hands. I won't spoil it for you but there is a vast difference between what they made and what thye would be drawing now.

Well, as usual, daddy o is the one that doesn't understand and probably never will. So, why try with him.
I've been a part or am part of some of the programs you've listed. You're wrong, plain and simple, but, maybe you have some strange view of success.
Ooops. I sad I would stop reading his posts, gotta keep my promises.

G-Man

You guys really need to curb the snide remarks where color is concerned.  Even in jest, when you interject race into jokes you're gonna get the replies calling you out on it.

If you want to have the real discussion, then race can be brought in but you HAVE to have facts to back it up.  The facts are out there.  I know the discussion is a difficult one, but bringing up the same topics in joke form is just not the way to do it.  Sure, in the bar, at home, with a group of like minded people they're good for a chuckle, but not in a forum viewed by every one under the sun.  I don't agree with pretty much anything Daddy-O posts, but he was right in saying Patricks's joke had racial elements to it.  Patrick should have apologized, the thread should have been locked and we all move on.  But the poor defense, then the additional stupid jokes and the continued racial accusations made this go ugly.

This one sucked and should be deleted.

Patrick

You're right G-Man. Things do get out of control at times. But, I'm not about to apologize for just posting a joke. I still don't think it was racist, its just a comment on todays society.
