It would be hard to dispute that the laws regarding eminent domain have been and will be abused. It doesn't make it right or acceptable but I have covered several eminent domain hearings as a reporter and they all took place in front of an authoritative panel that was, at some point, accountable to the voters. It does pay to pay attention to all the local races as these are the ones that impact most of us at the level where we live.

That said, now that one member has resorted to calling another member a "butt nugget," I'm not sure this can be considered a serious discussion anymore. I mean really, butt nugget?

To enlighten you. What happens when you stop paying property taxes is the Gov puts a lien on the property. A regular Joe like you and I can buy that lien and obtain the property. So with regards to the circumstances here the gov doesn't take your land or ever own it. Schooled.

don't know what kind of scary stuff you guys are talking about. I joined the military in 1964, we were never trained or even heard anything about civil unrest, 25 years later I left and joined a police dept. still having never trained for what I am reading here. I re-retired from police work and still have never trained to take away guns, property or anything else from an American citizen.

my niephew is now a lt. commander in the navy, he said this evening after reading all this that someone needs to call the boogie men off, he had never heard of any military plans to take over dodge either.

years ago the question was put to us in law enforcement wanting to know what we would do if told to go collect guns. to a man we said we would resign our badges, we didn't have that kind of death wish.

as I write this I am sitting at fallon naval air station. I have asked several young sailors if they were ordered to do that, what would they do? to a man they said the would walk out the front gate and go home to help their family fight off the boogy man.

About the siesure of land, the government can and will do it. My Grandfather owned a farm in a wonderful part of East By God Texas for most of his life.  The government decided they needed to dam up the river that ran along the back edge of the property and condimmed the property.  They were paid a pittance, and had to start their life over at an advanced age.  Now thousands of acres of farms are covered by water.   Some managed to keep a few acres of waterfront property, and set up camper parks and such, and did so so, but many more had their life ruined by this land grab.  Of course the people that pushed this, politicos ended up making millions.  In the name of progress a wonderful area of rural farms, great river bottoms, hunting and fishing areas, was forever spoiled.

The Statement of Purpose from the Bill reads:
"To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty."
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration,
would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms.
The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S.
and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.
