A great day to ride, and some pretty doggone good-looking brisket to supposedly add to the get-together! A couple of pics...

Had to return to the scene Wednesday for the brisket, however... none when we were there the previous Saturday because of St. Paddy's Day... Oh well, it was well worth the ride. Only Damon and MarkT were able to join me for the do-over, but... you know... quality over quantity, right...?

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the 'high country' and a chance to meet, greet, and eat with such a great bunch of riders!!! It was good to see so many turn out for a mid-March ride... I had to head south after only a few days, however... otherwise I'd be needing a new wardrobe! So much good food... so little time... sigh...

Warm Spring Welcome Colorado Riders.

Last year I bought a pair of Interstate Saddlebags from Dick, and happened upon a Corbin Trunk. After a HUGE investment in rails, hardware and paint I have my bike all together and ready for this riding season. 

I can't access Photostash so here is a link to my post on the Facebook VRCC site (https://www.facebook.com/groups/109339477726/?multi_permalinks=10155347334432727&notif_id=1521677351505331&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic&ref=notif). I went for close to a factory paint job but the careful eye will know it's a one off. Truck stacks and a set of Grumpy's tips will go on this weekend.

A big thanks to Dick for selling me the bags!

Labor Day Weekend Anual Darby (Hagar the Horrible) ride and motel info.
The ride will depart Buena Vista at 9:00 am.
For those wanting to stay near there on Friday night August 31st. A small group of us will be staying at the Columbine Inn And Suites in Leadville. 719-486-5650. We will be eating a Quincy's for supper.
Satuday night September 1st we will be at the Country Lodge in Montrose. When you call mention my name and that you are with the motorcycle group. I have all available rooms blocked under my name and they will release them to you when you call for reservations. The hold on these rooms is good up until 30 days before the ride. After that they are open to the public. 970-249-4567 Talk to Jen if possible. She is the owner and who I set this up with.
Sunday night we will be at the Snowshoe Lodge in Crrede. I do not have a block on these rooms so DO NOT WAIT. These will fill fast. There is a $50.00 non refundable deposit on these rooms so make sure you can make this ride. This room does come with a homemade breakfast. Sorry Mark the place in Lake City will not hold all of us this year if everyone that said that they were coming actually show up. We have folks coming in from Louisianna, Texas, Oklahoma, and possibly Idaho not to mention us locals.
I am looking forward to Honoring our friend Darby. He was one hell of a good dude and he is sorely missed.

Looking forward, always a blast!  An awesome ride honoring a truly humble guy who made a lasting impact on so many, including myself.  I think of Darby quite often.  His picture hangs in my garage.

Thanks, my friend! Not sure how things will be working out, but I do plan to be in Leadville by Friday 8/31, at a minimum... Beyond that, it's anybody's guess how I'll get there. At the moment I'm contemplating another epic ride to that ride... taking a longcut up through Peace River, Alberta, then down through Jasper and the ride down to Lake Louise, then over to Golden, BC, and maybe Glacier National Park after that... Nothing firm on any of that... well, except for the Darby Ride...

Really nice of you to offer a place to stop on the way there!!! I'd love to, and I just may try to make that happen... Of course, when I'm at the helm... well... anything is possible... or not... Reckon I'll just play things by ear and see ya in Leadville if nothing else! Again, thanks a bunch for the generous offer, though! I appreciate ya, dude!!!

You'll be joining some mighty fine company if you do attempt to clean our girl! Several other guys also can't seem to stand her being dirty all the time... As for her rider, well, he just looks at all the dust, mud, and bugs the way a soldier looks at campaign ribbons on his/her chest! It took a lot to get her to look that way, and I'm proud of every inch of the journey!!!

It helps that I am a poor navigator! Oh well, some of my best memories have resulted from wrong turns, missed turns, and U-turns... Well, one U-turn in particular turned out to be not-so-great, but heck, even that episode had a silver-lining and some good memories associated with it... I do love to go adventurizing with our girl!!!!!!!
