Just a little update - Still holding steady in the 199-205 range, which I'm comfortable with, gives me a little wiggle room to put some back on as time goes by. Had my 1 year checkup with my surgeon, everything still good, confirmed not diabetic still (A1c is 5.2 and off all diabetes meds a year now) Finally went out and got a new motorcycle jacket, went from a tight XXXXL to a loose XXL (A XL fit but was too short in the arms so went up 1 size.)

... (A XL fit but was too short in the arms so went up 1 size.) The sleeves look like they still might be a tad short. I guess as long as you're not wearing it a the dinner table and trying to reach for a second helping, it'll be okay Just kidding, of course. Great job. Looking good Did gas mileage go up.

An excellent story, read and accomplishment. Good for you. I looked into this, decided to do what needed to be done and try to have bariatric surgery due to my own family history of diabetes and (let's face it) I'm over weight. I always thought I was too short for my weight but, I'm told that may not be correct. Found out though that I'm not covered for this surgery. Basically, the insurance rep claims that my employer simply doesn't have that written into the policy. Or, as she explained it, that procedure was specifically not written into my coverage. So, I'm dropping my own health coverage with my employer and my spouse will be picking me up on her policy. We already know hers will cover it, she had one of the surgeries previously mentioned. That means I have to wait until 1 Jan. 15 to start the process but, that's the plan. Thanks for posting your story Serk.

Went from 367 in April to 245 now. The majority of my weight loss due to walking 6+ miles a week and using www.myfitnesspal.com. Had a gastric sleeve surgery on Nov. 8th. Only lost 5 lbs. since then. Both my endocrenologist primary doctors both suggested dyalisis due my severe diabetis. I'm drug free now and my glucose levels and blood pressures are normal now. My goal is 185 lbs. =

My surgery was 2 years ago today... Still non-diabetic, weight's gone up a bit, but been holding around 215 for the last 6 months or so, which with my height I'm perfectly happy with. Zero regrets at all, still glad I did this. Sorry for the swimming pic but it's the only recent one of me I've got (And shows the changes the best too), at my eldest spawn's birthday party a few weeks ago... Compared to a month before my surgery 2 years ago:

I have a friend who was faced with "lose some weight" or " lose his pilot's license"... He sought help at the local hospital's healthy-living clinic... his choices there were bariatric or diet-and-exercise... he said they sort of pushed him towards bariatric in fact... He is a machine (has self control) and went for diet-and-exercise. His diet became "nothing good" and his exercise includes riding bicycles from coast to coast. He's way fit and perfectly sized now, and by the time he worked up to stuff like riding a bicycle across the country he was able (had to, in fact) eat some good stuff again, but I don't think I'd have that will-power. I'm glad the bariatric is working -Mike

Having lived through my spousal unit's weight loss surgery, I eventually decided that I had to do something, (two heart surgeries and a knee surgery probably helped). Regardless, had the "sleeve" surgery 11 May, so far I've lost 102 lbs. Still not at my goal but, I'm damn close. Probably the biggest reason I don't look forward to the "holidays" is I don't have the self control to not try all the good stuff (edibles) that are out for munching. Looking to join a munchers group.
