As far as the donor, several VRCC members offered to be tested, and we appreciate each and every one. It is a truly an amazing gift! The person that is planning to donate doesn't necessarily want to remain anonymous; they just don't want to put the cart before the horse. It's been quite a testing process to get to this point, so we're not counting any chickens that are yet unhatched. Once the two of them are actually out of surgery, then we'll believe it. We're trying not to jinx anything or set ourselves up for disappointment. Besides, to quote the donor, "It's not about that [the kudos], it's about Michael being healthy." That said, assuming all goes as hoped, we'll let y'all know.

I am deeply impressed but not overly surprised, some folks you just know are the real deal the first time you meet them. Prayers for you too Connie, can't imagine what your going thru even though your tough I am sure it is very difficult.

The case before them went extremely long. Donor went into surgery about 12:30, Psycho not until 14:15. Donor has been in recovery since about 14:50; Michael still has over an hour to go in surgery.

Here they are... ready to go swap a kidney.
They are both out of surgery now. It went very well for both. The surgeon says the kidney is already working and putting out a ton of urine! Carolyn has been out of recovery and in her room since about 6 pm. Michael is still in recovery, but doing well. They have to do an ultrasound and some other tests before they send him to his room.

Pat and Carolyn are both amazing people, and we thank them from the bottom of hearts for this truly awesome act. Pat is here too, looking out for Carolyn.
