President Barack Obama is one of the greatest Presidents in American history.  I look forward to the day when you will spend money with his likeness on it, so you get your daily reminder of all the good he did for this country.

They should put his likeness on the $3 bill in deference to his perceived sense of urgency and importance in getting the gay agenda shoved down our throats as opposed to other less important (to him) issues like Bengazi, voter fraud, fast & furious, etc.  And since he must be deceased to appear on the currency, that would be a step in the right direction as well.

There are a lot of people that would love to see Obama's face on some money......(for some other reasons though)

Surely you jest about the greatest in history part.  I think you forgot the " " around that one.

No, I didn't serve.  I scored high on the ASVAB.  I passed my physical at MEPS.  At the time I had my GED and 9 college credits, and that wasn't enough to get into the Corps because Clinton was trimming down the size of the military.  They did not issue me a waiver so I could get in.  This does not make me any less of an American Patriot, nor does it take away my right to point out someone that dodged the draft when our country called on them.  I was trying to get a waiver in order to serve, not in order to dodge service.  By the way, my wife's grandfather died on Iwo Jima.  My Great Uncle was a POW in Okinawa.

This thread is not about me, though you all would like to turn it into that.  Whenever someone has a differing opinion, you go directly into personal attacks.  Not attacks on the argument, but attacks on the individual.

Not really, Ted just threw that in about the President thing.

It was about the Washington Establishment and how they could not sell a blanket to a naked man in

a Snowstorm.

Check the title.

It morphed into a Ted for Prez.

Obama fan morphed it to a Vietnam, draft dodger claim.

The Sticker he held up was from a fan, who was making a joke.

Actually it was supposed to be political satire, and became an attack on who has the biggest

gonads.

Cat Scratch Fever kicked in and here we go.

Naked Man in a Snow Storm, or a Car Stuck in Atlanta during the last Snow Storm. Same thing.

Yeah maybe but he does have a point about Ted Nugent. Went to extremes to avoid being in the military but wants everyone to think he is a patriot. You can't have it both ways.

Snopes says the story is "undetermined".

Nugent later said:

He has the rage, but he doesn't have the war record. At 18, he was called up to serve in Vietnam. "In 1977 you gave an interview to High Times [the cannabis user's journal of record] where you claimed you defecated in your clothes to avoid the draft."

"I never crap my pants to get out of the draft," says Nugent, good-naturedly.

"You also told them you took crystal meth before the medical — as a result of which, and I quote: 'I got this big juicy 4F.'"

"Unbelievable. Meth," he replies, in a tone of deep sarcasm. "Yes, that's my drug of choice. You've got to realise that these interviewers would arrive with glazed eyes and I would make stories up. I never did crystal meth. And I never pooped my pants."

"But you did dodge the draft."

"I had a 1Y [student deferment]. I enrolled at Oakland Community College."

Read more at http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/nugent.asp#tyrPxws7PIKvj7rp.99

So, he said story was made up.  I think one should NOT report it as fact.

LOTS had student deferments, so I would not hold that against him.

So, DaddieO, please retract what u said.  NOT fact.

Well, according to Snopes, your "facts" are NOT "facts"

"Ridin' with Cycho"

Daddie O

MP, please don't cut portions out of an article and leave out the portions that discredit your argument.  Why didn't you cut and paste these portions? :

"You said then that you wanted 'to teach the stupid bastards in the military a lesson'. I'd have thought you'd have loved the army. Guns. Travel. Danger."

"Back then, I didn't even understand what World War II was."

"So basically," — I admit that I have, unaccountably, started to speak Nugent — "you didn't want to get your Michigan ass blown off in Vietnam."

"Correct. I did not want to get my ass blown off in Vietnam."

But in an interview with CREEM magazine, Nugent stated he had in fact taken meth before his draft physical:
Q: "Are you still a hard case on drugs?"

A: "Real hard. I have never done a drug in my life. I have never smoked a joint in my life. I took two tokes off a joint with the MC5 one night and almost gagged and thought it was stupid. And that's it. I took two tokes off a joint once. I snorted one line of cocaine. And one line of crystal methedrine before my draft physical — but God, that was worth it because I wanted to see the look on the Sergeant's face. That's it for drugs."

Or this part:

So, Ted Nugent did have a student deferment for part of the time he was eligible for the draft, but he did also fail a physical examination and receive a medical exemption. Without more details about the results of that physical examination, however, we can't ascertain how much it may match or depart from the account Nugent gave to High Times back in 1977.

My facts are facts according to snopes, and according to Ted Nugent himself.

Ted Nugent bragged to anyone who would listen about his drug use and methods to avoid serving.  Years later he says he never did drugs, except two tokes of pot, oh and a line of cocaine, oh and a line of crystal meth before his physical... no drugs except those... lol

He got a medical deferment after his student deferment.  Look, people weren't lining up to ship off to Vietnam, and that is understandable, but you can't exactly be a draft dodger and a patriot at the same time.

Years later he wants to say he lied about it to the multiple interviewers.  So what are we to believe?  That he lied to interviewers then, or he is lying to interviewers now?  Which type of liar is he?  The drug using liar, or the non drug using liar? That he didn't want to go to Vietnam, or he did but he simply couldn't because of his enrollment in school, and his medical conditions?

Ted Nugent has as much of a chance at being elected President as any Republican, which is 0 chance.
Light moves faster than sound.  That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Jess from VA

I knew lots of guys who went to college to avoid the draft.  If they got adequate grades, they were provided a lawful 2S deferment. (Until the last year or two of the draft)

I know a number of guys who tried to screw up their MEPS physicals for the draft.  The best any did (no sleep, bath, self abuse, alcohol/drugs) was to have to come back and pass a few weeks later.  Short of chopping off a trigger finger, those efforts did not generally get anyone a permanent medical deferment.  Without reading Ted's actual MEPS physical, and the official medical determination made, this is all argumentative conjecture.

Many of us were not big fans of Vietnam (for pretty good reasons as I remember).  Most of us did not run away to Canada or go on the road for months to years to never receive draft notices.  Many took advantage of the rules of the system to avoid the draft if they could, but broke no laws of any kind.  That did not make them traitors or criminals or even unpatriotic.

I am not ashamed to admit I did not want to go.  I had been planning college all my life, went and excelled.  After the S2 was removed, I got a high number.  If I got a low number I was going in with no finagling (and would have enlisted to avoid the draft anyway, if I had time before callup).  Later went in voluntarily at age 31. Uncle Sugar paid none of my decade of college either.

Finally, assuming without conceding that all the old historical bad news on Ted was true, he is still a better man and US patriot than Zero or Kerry or Hilda or Harry or Diane or Barbara will ever live to be.  Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

If Ted's current positions on the state of our nation upsets anyone............. good.

old2soon

Did I WANT to go?? Not only No but HELL NO. When my draft notice showed up I took it to the Navy recruiting office and got the Aviation school I wanted. And after I went to the fleet I still got shot at. I agree that Ted would make a better P O T U S than that sorry assed excuse that currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave-when they ain't out on A F 1 burning thru money the fed don't have.  :uglystupid2: That empty suit picture made me laugh-a LOT!!  :cooldude: RIDE SAFE.

Although this thread got started about Ted Nugent it turned into one about the present POTUS.

Our minds aren't changed but I'm really glad that all of this reinforces my opinion of the present POTUS.

I remember personally all of the presidents starting with FDR. Some, since then, were excellent, some were good, some were fair, one was mediocre, and one is incompetent, a habitual liar, a usurper of his power, and the worse president that I have the unfortunate experience to live under.

Of course, some, depending on their success in life, will have a different opinion.  I'll leave it there.
