Kidney stone blasting

Well I dug this post up for a reason. I still have my kidney stone that showed up one evening the first of February. Its now the 26th and all they do is tell me to drink water / push liquids. Its 4mm but its stuck and they haven't done a thing yet. Been in ER twice with pain and puking. I was afraid of dehydration, couldn't keep any liquids down.  This type of pain is something that is only controlled with IV drugs. For those that are saying, Oh, c'mon Hooter. I hope that you don't get the pleasure of going through this. IF this was riding season I really don't think I would be able to ride anyway?
I have a very high tolerance to pain, but this will bring the biggest tough guy down. I am one of these guys that doesn't drink much water and I quit drinking alcohol for the most part unless I'm out of town due to my "0" tolerance program.  So for you guys that are like me when it comes to drinking water, drink, this really sucks. Drink, drink heavy, but if it's alcohol don't ride.

Yep, its painful as hell. And, the drugs don't help much. As mentioned, I had no problems as the stones were found kinda by accident and were/are too big to pass. Like a damn fool I got talked into having them blasted. They'll only do one side at a time and I'm not about to go back for the other side. That was 4 days of the worst pain one could imagine. What no one ever said is that the problem is not getting the pieces of stone [ some almost the size of a BB] out of the bladder, that was easy. The problem is getting them from the kidney to the bladder. Once they reached the bladder everything was fine. About 25-30 chunks finally came out and they are not smooth.
But, I too have never had much to drink during the day. That has now changed.

I hear ya! Water isn't my big thing, never has been but it is now. I think its gonna be a fetch and grab for me next week. I am so not looking forward to that. That thing is for outgoing not incomming! :2funny:

Wow Hooter, talk about the gift that just keeps on giving.

It's bad enough when you just go thru the normal two day episode.

Keep pumping H20 and pretending to be a fire hose.

Best of luck.

I told the surgeon that a 'snatch and grab' would be the only way I would come back and was told that they can't/don't do that.  He said it would less painful to bore a couple holes and stick in a tube with a bag for a few days then remove everything when the kidney spit out the stone. The only way I would have the left one removed was if some one would just go in and cut it out.
So, whatever you do, I wish you the best.

I feel for you,I had a 4 mm stone a year and half ago.You should raise hell about it .I too was in emergency about five times and had laser blasting twice and finally passed it. Go and see a urology dr . The hospital will do nothing unless you see a specialist. My stone was giving me pain for about 5 weeks. I was lucky when I passed it I felt nothing.

Strongly agree on seeing a urologist, if you haven't already.
