I don't watch NASCAR, but I have seen some epic fights on the news. What do those guys say about other drivers? I honestly don't know, Are they treating her any differently, or do they trash talk all (or at least most) of their competitors?

Jeff Gordon does not like her, because now he is not the only female out there.

Quote from Donaldcc

you take 100 drivers from VRCC and you get 20 with knee replacements, 8 with by-pass surgery, 45 with arthritis, 10 with frozen shoulders, 60 with obesity and 20 that are so fat they would not even fit in the car, 12 hip replacements that can't lift foot from brake to gas pedal in a timely fashion, etc, etc.

Tell you what. I have had a left hip replacement, am well overweight at about 325, and have some mild arthritis. I have driven 650hp race cars at Daytona, Michigan, Chicago, Vegas, Bristol, and Charlotte. Logging in well over 2000 laps. Most recently nearly 175 laps at Bristol and Charlotte last fall so this is not ancient history. Some before and many after the hip replacement, all being overweight. I have no trouble shifting or getting in and out of the car as you suggest. Wherever you are getting your info from is quite flawed and quite honestly I find it your opinion ludicrous and offensive to people who may be in a similar situation. Just because people have some ailments does not mean that they are bed ridden. Safe to assume that you are ailment free? If I have misunderstood the context of the quoted message my apologies.

I just took Donalds reply more tongue in cheek.  A lot of us in the VRCc Do fit that description!  LOL  Me included.

I took it that the meaning was we are simply not in the shape to compete.

No offense Big Mike.  good for you for your adventures on the track.   :cooldude:

me, I have ailments like other 61 yo Valkyrie riders.

but, my brain seems to be OK still and it tells me that young, trained and experienced NASCAR drivers, including Danica, would be looking in their rear view mirror at us in any competition.  Unless, of course, they are looking out front as they came around to go a lap ahead as they pass us.

:2funny: yeah I think she'd be looking at my butt several times from multiple passes.

Thanks Donaldcc.

I agree with Richard Petty. If she were a man nobody would know she was at the track.

Not a big nascar fan, however, She is ranked 33 after 3 races and finished 21 in the third race of the season which was AHEAD of all 3 other of her male teammates.

If it was a guy, everyone would be cheering the underdog.

And she is hot.

She wrecked them too, and it ain't the first time.

And no one else wrecked in those races or in NASCAR before she started driving.
I saw Petty's "challenge". He proved his name fits and he will get his butt handed to him if her team owner wants to waste his time with him.

In the late 70's and early 80's I had a NASCAR Mechanics License, I know these men, Allisons, Petty, Cale Yarbrough, Buddy Baker, huge fellow, Dave Marcis, you get the picture. If Petty says he
can wipe the floor with her, you gotta believe he ain't blowin smoke.

Valid point: Easy on the eyes, ask Ricky Stenhouse. Definitely a publicity gig. Someone said if she doesn't do well this year she is gone, I agree. She will be lap traffice until she is gone. But you know what they say about opinions and this is one.

She will definitely NOT be gone next season unless injury stops her.  Currently ranked 28th.  Her sponsor, Go Daddy, will continue to pump in the $$$ to support her.

Mark my words and revisit this post in a year.  8)

I believe he thinks he can.
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

Petty was a great driver. he will soon be 77 years old.  every single one of todays mediocre NASCAR drivers would kick his ass with current tracks and cars.

doesn't mean he wasn't great, just life.

Also got to drive one of those 600hp cars around the Las Vegas Speedway for 16 laps on a vendor paid Richard Petty Experience.  145 mph was all they would let us run driving alone and that wasn't difficult (it was a blast!).  But then they did a ride-around with a pro driver driving and me in the passenger seat.  At 170 mph, I was pressed hard against the straps.  Can't imagine doing that for 500 miles.  These people are athletes.

I'm happy that Danica is taking advantage of her "skills" and the oogling fans to make a great living doing something she appears to love. Her sponsors are getting what they want. She's getting what she wants. We should all be so fortunate.

And therein lies the real issue.  NASCAR is in the entertainment business.  They sell advertisement and entertainment.  We like to think it's all about competition sort of like college football but it's not so.  Competition is a piece of it, but what is most entertaining is the true objective.

Right now Danica is a very big part of what sells,

BigChris99

Maybe she is there for a reason. Maybe she is there to open the door for another women that we don't

know yet to come up to NASCAR and be very competitive. Shirley Muldowney was a pioneer for the NHRA

years ago. Now, there are multiple women drag racing. It's common place to she them kicking the mens

tails too. I'm just saying that possibly there is a young girl out there watching NASCAR and seeing what

Danica is doing, thinking if she can do it I can too. I would like to see that. It would be interesting to see,

for example, Shari Smith, racing for a win against Kevin Harvicks son. I'm not a Danica fan, but maybe

she will open a door wider that has been closed for a long time. My wife and I are huge Supercross fans.

I'd love to see a competitive  women Supercross rider someday. I think it will happen. I think it should

happen.

As far as  Richard Petty vs. Danica. I love The King.....but if I was a betting man, and I'm not, Danica

wins. I'm 54 and I can't do the things I used to do at 34. I used to bench press close to 500 lbs. Not today.
