I would bet it's not so much the alcohol as it is the "Gluten" contained there in.

There are many products that are gluten free .............

I just had a small decaf McD's.

That is some bitter tasting, horrible fluid.

2 teaspoons of honey didn't help.

McD coffee and the default FiveBucks burnt blend are probably not going to
be to your liking... keep looking... coffee will grow on you, don't give
up for a least a few cups...

If that's what drinking decaf does I'M NEVER DRINKING REGULAR STRONG COFFEE.

I'm bouncing of me keyboard.  :o

I'm bouncing off me keyboard.

Well tell her to take it easy on you.   ;D

I've started drinking decaff - it tastes and smells like burnt crap. If it's going to help I'll put up with the taste/smell.

Also started drinking http://bragg.com/products/bragg-organic-apple-cider-vinegar.html

Not as pungent as the prodcut I tried a few years ago. This one I can just glug straight from the bottle.  :cooldude:

I had gout years ago and every time I got it,, it was followed by Kidney stones. It is a high level of uric acid crystals in your joints that causes the pain. Doc put me on Allopurinol and it helped stop the gout.
2nd time I got stones I changed doctors and the second doc said, "no wonder you get kidney stones, you have high protein levels in your urine and it attaches to the uric acid crystals in your kidney's and causes stones. He took me off Allopurinol and told me to cut my meat intake in half,(all meat) and drink a glass of pure cranberry juice every day and that was 8 years ago and I have not had either gout nor kidney stones since. I take no medication at all to this day. May not work for everyone but I was glad I found that doctor. Kidney stones are worse than the gout, and gout is bad.

I've given up on the coffee drinking.

Where does one find time to make 4 to 6 cups a day and then drink them.

I'll stick to my bottles of water always on hand.

HOWEVER the http://bragg.com/products/bragg-organic-apple-cider-vinegar.html I've been drinking seems to have suppressed the uric acid build up.

Maybe too soon to make a definitive statement but I have been testing the claims of Organic ACV. Not by eating red meat which I do rarely but by eating some strong cheese and other gout causing food.

A couple of shots of bourbon didn't cause the big toe twinges I was expecting.

So I'll keep on with the couple of glugs 3 times a day of the ACV and time will tell.

I'm guessing the alkaline PH in the ACV neutralizes the uric acid PH???

Paul, if that apple cider vinegar is hard to get down, what about mixing it with your bottled water.  Long as you get enough, dilution should not diminish it's usefulness (just guessing), and maybe you can drink more of that way without the gagging.

I use Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, rather then regular then white. I take two table spoons a day with no problem. The Bragg is not as bad as the filtered vinegars.  But in the water is fine.

By the way Bragg's can be bought any store.

Just figured out a technique for taking the Bragg's cider vinegar straight.  I take a two tablespoons a day, one in the morning and one at night straight.  This may sound a little weird, but it worked for me. First take a deep breath and exhale, pour cider in the spoon, then in hale about quarter the way, take the cider and swallow it, now exhale. Don't not inhale. When you exhale you blow out the vapor. try it.

Sounds like my first exp providing oral fun with the gfriend.   :2funny:

(Sorry man, couldn't resist.  )

Of course it's much better than cider vinegar....... who knew?

Bragg's straight from the bottle.

Glug, glug.

3 times a day.

Try that Jack Bauer

McDonald's coffee is pretty strong, I have them fill the cup half with coffee and half hot water. Calms it down some !

..

I have a good news update.

No twinges of gout.

I'm drinking Puritan Pride ACV. A tad more expensive than Trader Joes but I can get it delivered at no cost!!!

Plus I'm now taking an ACV tablet every day.
