For those that like to track their trips we used a free application called SPOTWALLA.  That with the web site several were tracking us with updates every 10 minutes.  At stops custom messages can be uploaded (Hotel, Gas, Food, Repairs ...) and provided you can get to the internet (phone, wifi, etc) then the map others see gets updated.

;)  :cooldude: Congratulations To Gil & Randy for a complete Florida to Artic Circle Grand Tour!
Cha...Ching!!

WOW! Got a lotta views on this thread!
This was fun for all of us to see your daily exploits. From my view I was able to follow many aspects of your tour. Fuel stops, scenic stops, dining, overnight and weather. The internet can be quite the tool. The tracking system allowed complete road maps and satellite imaging in many areas, latitude and longitude also. Just typing in their location also provided instant forecasts. I'd say it worked well.
Can't wait to see more pic's and hear some road stories!
Thanks to Gill for the kind words; arm chairing was fun. Even with the time changes, some of the later evening miles held my attention. You had quite a rain behind you going north. You all kept ahead of it so it wasn't worth bringing up your alert.
A big thanks to the wives of Gil and Randy. It took their support; and I know the guys were missing home.

Have a plan, I think so. Goldwing, I'm slowly looking. New England via S.D. over the great lakes. I'll give Gil & Randy another year off before going back to the artic circle. Or would ya rather get a couple of BMW's and go check out Cape Horn.......

And so ends this years journey.  Again thanks for watching and following this trip.  I did make one gas stop with almost no fuel left (except for a gallon in the spare tanks).

Should you plan on taking a trip like this to Alaska, I am willing to help with the planning.  Camping was an option, but not required.   I think early rise and early (6 PM local) hotels is a good plan.  Food and gas cost 30% more than in the lower 48.  It gets dark late and light early, more so as you get north.  Plan for rain and heat.

If you see me wave, I'll be on the Yellow bike waving back.
