Why do we all make so much to do about "counter-steering", when that's the ONLY way we can steer a two wheeler- unless we're walking it along? Try to NOT "countersteer" and we fall down!

Because if you don't *know* it...and how it works...and practice it...then you are doing it by accident and will fail to control that motorcycle when you really need to.

Frankly I would expect a car tire to last 40-50k and if it doesn't, I'm not sure I see the point???   

I've got the same tire on the Wing that I had on the Valk, for the same reason, GRIP!
I'm pickled tink to get 12k outta this tire without showin' cord, but that's 12k rock solid, glued to the road, crankin' & bankin', carvin' in the rain 2 up, kinda miles, for about a hundred bucks a pop.

In this article, the author talks about getting only 13k on his first Car tire.  22k on another.  Frankly I would expect a car tire to last 40-50k and if it doesn't, I'm not sure I see the point???

And in my experience, I only got about 8K on the Dunflops and 9K on the Avon rear tires, which cost twice as much as the car tire and gave me less rubber on the road.  On my 3rd darkside tire now.  This one, a Falken 512, cost $75.  Find a motorcycle tire you'd be confident to ride on for 22K miles for the same money.

I just passed 12k on my rear tire, a Bridgestone Excedra Max that I purchased for $138 with free shipping a few years back.  Now it needs to be replaced soon, and it cost more than the Falken tire, but that's pretty good mileage for an MC tire.  I guess I still would expect to get even more out of a car tire than 22k, even on a bike that someone actually RIDES (really?).  Hell I may try one on for size and see how it goes.  Curiosity has piqued...

I'm getting 30K on my car tires and changing them out early due to coming up on a long trip (Inzane) or the wear bars show.  I never get down to the cord which happens on motorcycle tires a lot. 

Daniel RIDES means that he will go 300 miles to eat lunch or chase a storm.  He has performed a powerslide on a Valkyrie, which I don't know of anyone else doing.  One of the most complete riders you will ever know and also an expert on Valkyrie maintenance.  If Daniel says it's good, that's good enough for me.

No disrespect meant. 

You should get to know him, however.  He can be found in his books, in his blog and on this forum.  Or working on his Old Victorian house.

Glad you like it Mallett! They don't last real long but hey, they sure are "confidence inspiring" while they do.
MarkT, I've been told this tire is discontinued in my size & never even thought to look for a 60. Then I was recently told they just released a bunch of these from the manufacture that had been on back order.
Word of warning though, the pic is deceiving as to how "round" the edges are. It really is pretty square. The slow speed stuff is unforgiving to say the least. I'm willing to live with that to get the grip I need in the corners. I cut my teeth on US 129, lived here all my life.
Jus' thought I'd give ya a headz up. It's still the best tire out there IMHO.

That lawyer didn't do his homework. If he did he would know that CT's cannot generate enough "Camber Thrust" to work properly. Hack lawyer, I wouldn't use him.

What about the 381hp/401lbs. of torque with 4.30 rear axle ratio on the toyota tundra?  It was a game changer in 2007 and everyone at that time was trying to catch up.     No one in 2007 had a 6 speed tranny and still no one has I don't think as stock from factory a 4.30 rear axle ratio. Throw in as stock from factory can get a 500+ hp/torque supercharger and you have a wonderful racing truck able to beat almost all factory cars on the road and still get same mpg.   Gearing and rear axle ratio makes  a world of difference in terms of pulling power/grunt off the line and while on the road in general.

back on topic,  if you like the handling of a rear car tire, go for it and leave it on there.  Give it 1-2,000 miles to see if you like it and can live with it.  Personally for me and how I ride,  a car tire is not needed.  If I rode higher mileage say 6-8K or more per year,  I'd rationalize switching and trying a rear car tire on my I/S.  For those of us riding 3-4K miles per year,  no sense in a car tire my way of thinking since the rear cycle tire should last then 4-5 riding seasons of normal, not hard aggressive riding.  To leave a car tire on until it wears out on say on average 25-35K miles for me would seem like almost forever and not good to leave it on that long without servicing/lubing at least the rear drive every 10-15K miles.
