yeah those are all bonafide problems. the lock thing is a manual trans. problem only, the seats are in fact more comfy and made of, in my opinion, better leather, my C-6 was bunching up after 6 months, my C-5 is perforated leather and is still not cracked or bunched. so far even at over 120 I haven't experienced that wind noise you are talking about, and the headlight fix includes brass gears that only cost around 20 bucks, but after owning both I would agree that the C-6 is quieter. try wadding up some insulation and putting it in the storage compartments in the back, or better yet, I took two heavy duty moving pads (black) and folded them the right size and layed them out over the storage area, takes no space and really quiets the tire noise and those agrivating electric fuel pumps. with tires over a foot wide, and the fact that you are literally a foot away from them, its hard to get rid of that sound. I drilled the air box (16 times X 3/4 inch holes) and added a K&N filter, sound like its going to suck the bumper through the motor at top speed and brought my mileage up by 2. I think its a boatload of fun driving such a high performance car with such good gas mileage. did you know that the corvette, the car that not even the ferarri can better in a race, it's the only supercar that has no gas guzzler tax ?

Dad had a 1970 stingray. Nice car but always working on it. Vac leaks and stuff. I did go 120 mph a few times when i was 18. Fun! Be nice to have one but not practical for me.

no one should ever be that practical. I for one have never had a fantasy. every time one cropped up I went and did it. I did a lot of stuff in my life, some good, some great, some - well not so much, but I've had a blast, God willing I ain't done yet.

summer i ride the valk. Take my z-71 to work. Really no time for a car and no place to store it in the winter. Maybe later in life.

I think the correct statement would be that most corvette owners have bikes, well maybe not cause most vette owners are over 50, so either is probably correct. for the most part I think we have to get some years on us and some work years behind us to be able to afford bikes and vettes, and such. like I said, I could always afford a vette, I just had to get older before I could afford the insurance on one.

I think the vet is a nice variation from the valk. I live in az. so during the summer it's nice to ride in cooler comfort occassionally and still have a fun ride. It is no replacement for motorcycling but boy is it fun to drive. I reccently bought a C5 and for the money it's the best bang for the buck. Gas mileage is a plus. I don't think it has anything to do with the mid life thing. It's just that you get to a point where the kids have grown up and you now have a little disposable income to play with. I preferred a custom hot rod but those cost waaaay more than the vet did.

I built a custom 70 chevy shortbed 20 years ago, ls6 454, Allison auto. every nut bolt and screw replaced including all the sheet metal except the cab. super chevy sunday consistant winner. it cost me $6,600.00 to build (not including labor)

I was watching a t.v. program this morning that rebuilt a like vehicle, just superficially, (engine and paint) and they spent over 15K. at that rate I would spend around 60K doing the same truck I did for 6K 20 years ago

I grew up around body shops and made a living at times in my life painting cars. the paint I used 20 years ago on that truck (clearcoated urethane) cost me $85.00 a gallon. the paint I used on my Valkyrie trike (vivid yellow) a year ago, cost me $400.00 a quart. I agree brother, you cannot afford to build hot rods anymore.
