As MUCH as I LOVE my Valk. It would be soooooooo boring to pull into the local choke and puke and only see rows and rows of Phat Girls. I'd rather see that inside the establishment!

Yep, not a basher of what someone wants to ride. I may kid someone, meant only as harmless teasing, but it takes all kinds. It's easy for us to be on the defensive though, when most of us have had experience hearing anti anything that ain't Harley quips. I can remember wanting a Harley, until Honda came out with the Vallkyrie. Now I, like many here, am just enamored by the flat six motor. Before I bought the F6B, I was wanting to buy a new bike. I had different bikes on my short list. I had the Victory Cross Country in my cross hairs, considered a Rocket III and looked at the Beemer 1600. I was taken a little back by the direction Honda went with bringing the Valkyrie back, but it grew on me quickly and after a test ride    . With the Victory, I just couldn't get my mind to get past riding a V-twin. With Harley, I can see the draw. Their bikes aren't junk like some want to believe, but man, everywhere you look, there they are. You certainly have a lot of options when it comes to accessories. But, everywhere you look , there they are. And then there is the power thing as well. To get the power I get stock , you got to tweak them up. Problems arise with reliability when tweaking those V-twins.  I wasn't sold on the styling of the Beemers, plus they aren't inexpensive to buy and potentially expensive to maintain. The Rocket III, well, it sounds like a tractor, and just seems like a beast. No , I'm pretty happy with the F6B and my old school Valk.

I would be equally less enthused between the choices of a carbed Valk or a modern Harley.  Neither seem appealing to me.  The only reason I bought a Valkyrie now was because they finally fuel injected them.  If my bike doesn't have an antique license plate then it doesn't need to have a carb either in my opinion. 

But either way have fun on the new Harley.  Enjoy my tax dollars that they used to bail out that company.  Don't say I never gave you anything.

Well while I do enjoy carbs a slight bit myself, it's in the form of art deco. 

I have a few laying here or there throughout the house polished or painted pretty.  They look great on a coffee table but terrible attached to an intake.  If I wanted yester-years technology then I'd be posting this hands free from the Talk-to-Text BlueTooth of my 2015 Harley Ultra Heritage Screaming Fat GLide.

I'll admit it, I'd like to have fuel injection on my Valkyrie but, it didn't come that way and I can't afford a swap even if there was one.   There may be one, I don't know.   I also like the HD cruise control but, I don't see that in my future either.

I'll admit that HD has some pretty cool accessories.   Are any of them made in the USA?   As a matter of fact, I wonder what percentage of an HD bike produced  today is actually made in the USA, I'm getting off topic.   But that's where it ends.   I'm not into V Twins, doesn't matter who makes it.   The reliability of that design will not stand up when compared to a flat six.   I'm not impressed with HD styling (looks) nor, am I impressed with those that mimic that look.    But, I don't care if you are (anyone).   I'll ride with just about anyone except, loud and stupid.   I take that back, I can handle loud as long as I don't have to be directly behind them.   I can handle stupid as long as I don't have to personally witness or be involved in the accident.

I could care less what you ar anyone else rides I have ridden many different brands and yes even a modern Harley 2010 but wasn't for me so I sold it and kept ridding my Valk.

Started out my riding career with a 1949 Harley Davidson Dou Glide. A 74 Cubic inch my uncle bought NEW the year I was born. He sold it to me when I was 16 along with a 1950 Studebaker Hawk. Bought them both for $100. (Boy I wish I had them now!). Anyway for the next 40 years, I've been with Honda. 750, 900, 1000, 1100, 1500 Valkyrie (2 of them) and 2 1800 'Wings'. Was waiting to see the design change on the 2015's but was totally disappointed! So the other 1/2 (what's her name) went to a Harley Dealer and purchased a 2014 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic (FLHTCU). 14 miles on it and it sounded like a sewing machine. Noisy, hard to find neutral, hard shifting and all around wiz bang machine. Put 500 miles on it and things got better, quieter, nicer. Rode it nice, easy, carefully till the 1000 mile check-up. Had the oil changed and all required maintenance. Service manager brought it out to me after the service, handed be back the keys, and told me "Now, ride it like you stole it!". It has 8000 miles on it and it is quiet, smooth, and very driver friendly. It will run 80mph all day. Oh, when I got the keys back (really you don't need keys, it has a electronic fob), I put it in 1st and ran about a 50 foot strip in the parking lot. (I'm putting a car tire on it). 

This bike has all the features Honda missed out on, too many to mention. Biggest thing is the foot room. No engine to keep you from getting comfortable with. GPS, BIG BOOM radio and so forth. Rider comfort is a very big plus. No more hip pain, handle bars are at the proper height, and you sit lower in the seat. I loved my Valkyrie, but when the 1800 wasn't in the cards, I moved on. Looked at the F6B, but it was a Goldwing with out the box.

If Honda is going to keep sales going, they need to look at what the rider needs are.

It doesn't matter to me what you ride.

Here on the Valkyrie board it's mostly Valkyries (Duh).  When a rider starts justifying his change to a different make bike here, on this board,  to me that doesn't make sense.

Just ride it and stay here on this board for the conversation.

My present ride, a used Vstrom, l bought for 6K with low mileage, works for me NOW just like the Valkyrie worked for me when i was younger.  I'm not going to compare the two against each other.

I'm glad that I'm still allowed on this board by the good people that I've met on this board.

After all,  it's about riding and fellowship and that's enough for me.

When I left the Suzuki Boulevard Forum and later the Nomad, Concours and KLR forums, I never felt the need to go back and tell them all how less superior there bike was to the one I chose at the moment. Not offended, but we aren't talking about him coming back to let his "Buddies" know he has a new bike. 42 posts in 5 and a half years shows he didn't have much to say before. If they were his friends, I would assume they would see it when they go riding anyway......

Actually improves my opinion of the F6B.  I like the way it looks. And the way it runs, I'm sure is awesome.  But I've always considered it a stripped down Wing.

That comparison to the HD shows the quality Honda built in, from using the best powerplant in the motorcycling world, to the bags and seat.

I don't care what anyone rides, as long as they ride.

It also doesn't seem (IMHO) that Quiet Thunder was bashing Valks, just rationalizing his jump to a high priced HD.

I did notice he didn't state how much his new ride cost.

All my fellow riding buddies ride HD, some have truly beautiful nice running machines.

Two of them have expressed interest in owning a Valk for a back-up/second ride.  One of them had just put $2400.00 into his tranny.

I've warned them that if they do, they might not ride their HD much anymore.

many years ago i saw the perfect motorcycle,, this was in about 1979 or so. I was at a bike shop in Tyler Tx. and there she was.. A big harley type bike all dressed out and had a 1975 1000cc gold wing running gear. Rune is a much better looking ride than the 2014 IMHO.

This is still a somewhat free country, and we still have the freedoms and liberties we haven't allowed the morons and politicians to take away from us.  Come here and post what you like,

My philosophy is: Do what makes you happy.  As long as you don't infringe upon the rights of others, do what you like.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how wrong it may be.
