I'll say this, you don't hold a candle to my age.

Sorry youngster.

Better luck next time.

In 1972 my oldest daughter already had presented mom and I with 2 fine little grand babies, who are all grown up and they presented us with a couple of great grand babies.   cooldude cooldude cooldude

I was a senior in H.S., Springfield, Mo. working my but off every day after school at Steak n Shake. Then one Sat morn I coaxed a reluctant Dad into the local Honda shop to trade my cb160 in on a new "72 cb350. He looked around and straddled the only new cb450 on the floor, and said "Why don't you just by this one?"

Thanks, Pop. angel

Because it wasn't said nearly enough at the time, to all of you that served during Vietnam...

Thank you.

This was me, circa 1973 sitting on my dad's shoulders welcoming Vietnam POW's back to US soil:

In '72, my old man was in either Heavy 9 or Heavy 13 (he was in both, just don't remember which one at the time) as an AT chief.  Still remember him cussing the canoe, saying why would they put the avionics in a place where all the hydraulic fluid ends up.

At this time in 1972, I had been out of Uncle Sams Flying club. Got out in July 1972, after spending 5 yrs, 2 months, and 28 days in the Air Force. The last 2 1/2 years were based in Okinawa, flying combat support missions in KC 135s, RC 135s, and once in a while a B 52.

I was driving a 67 Mustang, and a '63 HD Pan Head Chopper. Oh yea, and I was married for almost three years. cooldude

I liked the all navy blue shirt, pants, tie which was just about fazed out when I went on active duty in early 80s.  I scored some used ones to wear to work, and was called Herr Hauptmann.

But I tell you, when the services went to all BDUs all the time (of various colors, designs), it was a gift from the gods.  Gone were the days of heavy starch, hot irons and perfect seams; hours of work for each weeks' uniforms (unless you paid the Koreans to do it for you).  Instead, wash and wear BDU jammies all week long.  Comfortable clothing, and no ties.

Although us chairborne rangers still had to wear service dress uniforms on occasion for functions and courts martial.

Graduating High School in 1972.

Small farm town in southern Illinois. ( Lawrenceville )

Was not until the following year that I joined the Navy - Then I found out what the real world was about.

All was good with great memories. Even though the Navy years was a little fuzzy !!!!!!
