The only time I deliberately drafted a semi was when I was 21 and on my way to visit a girl in North Webster, IN.  I was on US 30, somewhere around Valparaiso.  That day I had already ridden my Honda CM400T from Minneapolis.  It was dark and quite foggy and that bike had a poor headlight.  I figured I'd be safer behind the truck than on my own, as the truck would clear anything it hit out of the way for me and I had the added benefit of the still air and reduced throttle behind the trailer.  The fog eventually lifted and I made it to North Webster.  That trip, my first really long motorcycle journey, was memorable for a lot of reasons.  On my first day I stopped on the side of the road to do jumping jacks to warm up; two days later I was hot riding in a T-shirt.  Maybe I should dig out my old photos and post a trip report.  Cool

This is the correct way to draft a semi.
