I used "Jack in New Orleans" when the club was young and I lived there. Changed to" Jack G" when Katrina and Rita drove me north to Arkansas. Changed to "Jack" when this board went live just because I could.

There were lots of nicknames in the military.
For instance, my boss's name was Gary..... but I only knew him as colonel or sir.
And while everyone has heard the term sarge', almost no sergeants liked to be called sarge'.
Hamilton thought the (1st) president of the US should be called His Mightiness, but Washington thought he was full of bullwhacky.

When I first got here in 2003 or 2004 I went by G-Man for a couple of months. Since I was new, I treaded lightly and didn't get involved too much with politics. Then I noticed another G-Man. I sent him a PM to say hi and introduce myself. I got back a pretty harsh reply and then my posts started being being attacked by him and a friend of his. So, I updated my handle to include my location. Still kept happening for a few more months but eventually stopped. After about a year, and not recalling any posts by the other G-Man, I asked the powers that be if I can go back to G-Man and I have been me ever since.

I don't really care for "Novavalker". I didn't put much thought into it when I registered.

The only other screen name I've ever had was blackrams, used it for years but, got a bit tired of it being shortened to BR by folks so, I shortened myself.

After reading G-mans post, I remember something similar.
In the first board I had the same name as now. When there was a change/gap in this board some other Patrick knowingly jumped in and took the name. He was questioned about that move and he was a nasty SOB. I forget now what name I ended up using in the interim.

who made the wiggy before ideal came out with theirs? hint.. it was black
Jess, you got me. It was actually the black Square D Wiggy I was referring to. Still have one at home. I incorrectly said it was Ideal(who makes the yellow one) who made the wiggy. I doubt Ideal calls theirs the wiggy but I can check my tool box tomorrow. At any rate, I've been an Industrial EL long enough to have had a few of the black ones. And they did say in the instructions something like 20 seconds max on time.

tkylli = Tom Kyllingstad. A fine Norwegian name that means: "kylli" which is a farm animal, maybe a chicken or a goat and "stad" which means place or town. So it's the town where you got your farm animals from. There is still a town in Norway named Kyllingstad. So moving right along... I worked at an engineering company in the '90s (I'm a quality engineer) that used a UNIX based computer operating system and your user name was the first letter of your first name and the first 5 of your last name. So "t" being the first letter of my first name and "kylli" the first 5 letters of my last name becomes "tkylli". I picked it for my screen name only because it was easy for me to remember because I typed it so often when logging into my computer everyday. I had no intention of ever actually posting anything to the board and not realizing someone might want to actually pronounce it! It's pronounced "tee-killy". Some say "tickly" but that's just embarrassing

When I retired from the Topeka fire department. the guys I rode with quit calling me chief and changed it to Hoser, cause I wasn't the boss any more. I treasure that. We were all out of the same station. Hardly see them anymore, some are still in service and up in the ranks, One is the Deputy Chief, another Fire Marshall. (Kinda like a fire cop.) some still ride, though. Hoser
