I was pretty confident I could make it through at 31, and the Marines wanted me enough to offer me a full/part-time Sgt to run me up and down the roads in the middle of winter (with pushups, pullups, situps and whatever else I had to do), for 4-6 weeks before I would ship to Quantico for the course. No other branch of service I talked to had anywhere near that kind of attitude/spirit (and of course no other branch had that tough of a training requirement either).
I ultimately chose the USAF for a number of reasons unrelated to Marine OTS.
Today, I wouldn't only fail, I would die.
