Some folks here seem to like their new Valkyries fine, I hated mine. I knew it
was an awesome bike the minute I test rode it, but I found it almost impossible
to make it comfortable.

Here's what I did... I'm leaving out the many less radical things I tried that
didn't work.

The root of the problem is those lame handlebars and the dinky one inch
risers.

I fixed that with some Baron 4 inch pullback risers and Baron riser extensions. The extensions
moved the risers back an inch and raised them an inch and allowed me to vary the distance
between the risers to fit whatever handlebars I chose... I chose 1500 Valkyrie bars, of course  ;) ...
The tape was just to register the extenders while I was tightening the bolts.

Wow, a lot of work but I get it.  I probably not as tall as you. I want my bars to come back at least one inch.  Height is OK.  Do you see a solution for this?

Thanks,

Brad

You'll probably have to change the risers to something like I have.
If you don't, whatever different bars you choose will probably not clear
the key at some point as you turn the bars from lock to lock. Another 1800
rider (bscrive) made his own radical handlebars that cleared the key without
changing risers.

I'm just 5-11... If I ever find a set of bars that are pretty much like 1500 Valkyrie bars
but that have an extra inch of pullback, I might give them a try... I extended all the
cables and lines and wires 9 inches, and I have a little left to work with. The way it is
now, though, is extremely acceptable... OEM bars, both 1500 and 1800, have the little
knobs on them that hold the OEM style tie wraps, and they have little holes in them
in the right places to register the tabs on the control boxes, I like that pretty much and
wouldn't want to have to work around their absence... the little holes on the 1500
bars were almost in the wrong place, but I have my control boxes and their associated
lever perches placed pretty comfortably.

September 2018...

Mods: Russell seat, big handlebars, Traxxion forks and shocks and steering head bearings, Corbin bags, Utopia backrest...

I got a two-inch-shorter (seven inches longer than OEM) set of throttle cables made and installed them, nine inches
was too long for the throttle cables...

I have two sizes of GIVI top cases, they're only on the bike for trips...

I still imagine the handlebars being a little different... I never measured my Valkyrie
handlebars while they were off, I found these measurements on the web:

diameter:1"  height:6"  width:33" pullback:14"  center:9"  clamp-area:3" x 5"  part-number:53100-MZ0-000

While riding I paid attention to the slightly different place and angle I wished
my hands were at, and using the above measurements I think I might try these
32″ width, 5″ rise, 15-1/2″ pullback Yamaha handlebars: Baron Custom Accessories  BA-7308-00
I'm not sure what makes them "Yamaha", but they're one inch bars...

I am in the market for highway pegs and wondered which ones you bought? You are very discerning and I would appreciate knowing what you decided on.
