what do puppy dogs and Harleys have in common? they both like to ride in the back of pick-ups and leave puddles on the side of the roads..

Anyway you look at I, there is good and evil in anything it is how you interpret it. I am not hands clean on the subject. Let me tell you a story. I was driving on the service drive to enter the expressway, went down the ramp on to the e-way, in the next lane, and behind me was a guy and babe on a Harley. As we were cruising awhile, he sped up past me; I could see they were, I guess you call them, poser, want-a-bes, all new shiny bike an outfits. He was a little ahead of me, I noticed he kept looking in the mirror at me, I figured he wanted to play, so I gave it a little gas and went slightly ahead of him. So we did this a few times down the road, you could tell his bike R’s where getting up there, I can make mine sound like it is near the top. So, after a while, for me the fun was over, as he was getting ahead of me the last time, I looked over at his girlfriend and she looked at me, and me a gesture of her nose up in the air. At that point I downshifted and went full throttle and the Valk shot like a rocket. I looked in my mirror and I could see the girls looking over the guys shoulder with an expression, like what just happen look. I took every bit of strength, not to fall off my bike from laughing. I’m sure they never screwed with a Valk again. I couldn’t help it, had to do it!!!! Wish I had my GoPro!!
Dreammaker., why make a broad generalization when asking about a broad generalization? (your original post) Now that comment was very insightful and effectively placed.

I am not trying to write a book, you understand, I see other people in this board in error, on their replies, no comment to them, but you always seem to be critical of mine. My point is that you have done precisely what you wanted to call others out for doing. It doesn't seem to be a unique occurrence. No, I'm not always critical of yours. More often than not I just roll my eyes and move on.

We bash Harleys because we can't bash people of color, people of faith, people of no faith, short people, bald people, fat people, gay people, blonde people, stupid people, young people, old people, rich people, poor people, glasses wearing people, acne faced people, hunched back people, handicapped people, women people, etc. What is there left?? But it's all in fun, We all know that 85% of Harleys ever built are still on the road. The other 15% actually made it home.

Reference the episode of "South Park" (yeah, it's a cartoon) that explains the whole Harley image thing within the world of a 4th grader. Yes, it's stupid...it's funny...and irreverent...and true. As far as I can see, it's a non-issue in the sum of all things.

One of the funnest rides I ever partook was with a chick riding a Magna. Isn't that a little Vtwin Harley? She was passing Ducati's and VFR's and stuff all day. Fun ride. I think her old man rode a Honda but he was so far back we had to wait for him, not sure what bike his was anyway. I've never choose who I ride with by what they ride but how they ride and more importantly how far in one day or two or 21 seems more important. Ride Forest Ride.

Jimmy, thanks for sharing that outstanding vid and music. Good fun and good humor. (finiqulee, finiqulaaaaa ) Moving the camera around on the bike is a great idea. My most often riding partner is also on a Hog. Known as the Snuffernaught (or Snuffy), he is also an outstanding lifetime rider. We kid each other.... but few can keep up with us when we decide to boogie.

Just so there is no misunderstanding, that is not me. I ride a faster red one. However that video pretty much sums up my riding style and could very easily be my riding partner and I. I may have to experiment with moving the GoPro around. I really like the effect of the camera pointing at the rider's back with the changing scenery flying by on each side.

I have been very lucky to ride with a group of Harleys that just love to ride. Also admit that it is easier for them to work on their Harleys. And they will be the first to tell you that they must work on them. But I find that my 07Street Glide has gotten me where I needed to go and most important BACK! Harleys are not like Valkyries or my F6B, these two hondas all you have to do is change oil and do the regular stuff and they will just keep running. Harleys on the other hand are older tech. But they are getting better. shortleg

Those fellows on the sport bikes were really surprised that day. Raymond can be a bad influence.

I never owned a Magna but I had a Vmax. That thing was amazingly fast. It had four carbs which was it's downfall though. I'd have loved to own a new 1700cc fuel injected version. I'd probably end up killing myself on it though.

My joking about Harley riders comes from 50 years of riding and several incidents of being treated badly by HD owners (especially at rallies, blessings). I won't go into all the details, but when you have that many negative experiences, you tend to develop a defensive attitude. Of course, I don't lump all HD owners together, and I have several friends who ride them. And, yes, the South Park episode is required watching for any biker.

That South Park Episode is hilarious. Your post pretty much echoes what I said up earlier about a defensive reaction to years of taunts. I ride with a lot of Harley riders , but we are all brothers and sisters in the CVMA. There is some good natured cutting up from time to time, no disrespect.

Dreamaker, it sounds like you are very young or very new to motorcycles to have not experienced any crap from HD owners. I started riding in the late '70's on Hondas and Yamahas and you wouldn't believe the crap I heard from the HD crowd. That kind of thing will cause you to have an attitude toward any trash talking HD owner when you know he is on an inferior machine. Thankfully Harleys are better built nowadays and the owners don't have to put down other bikes to feel better about theirs. As far as bashing goes, I don't care what the other guy rides, and he shouldn't lose any sleep over what I ride. I'm an easy going guy and am happy to see people riding any kind of bike, I just don't want to hear any crap from some ignoramus on any kind of bike.

I don't understand something, why do people on this board bash Harley's and the people that ride and own them? They never did anything to us, except not wave as they went by. Seriously I don't understand why, they are one of us!! I don't get it!! Some day one of us my need some assistance from one of them.
If you are too happy, people will think you are up to something. Be happy anyway. If you are honest, people will think you are up to something. Be honest anyway. If you are,,,,,,,,,,well you get it. Mother Teresa said this almost verbatim. Before I did for sure. A Good Heart will win, a Bad One will always take the easy route. Love the Other Riders, even if they don't love you. Jesus eluded to that. Harley Haters are all pretty much the same,,,,reasons don't need to be Valid. Jealousy is one point,,,can't afford it is another,,,,,,,, When I meet a prejudiced rider on a Honda or what ever.,,,,,who gives me lip. Laugh, he is looking for a response from you, to tell others what you said. Don't give either the time of day,,,,,life will teach them the rest,,,the hard way.

I love Harleys. I love the way they sound and the way they feel. I really dig the look of a hardtailed, kick only, slabside shovel with a 45 degree rake and a 10 over springer. I also really dig British bikes. Hell, I just love motorcycles. Of course I love the Mothership most of all, because she's mine! I have owned and ridden Harleys and most likely will again but the main thing to keep in mind is this: If you love your bike, does it really matter if anyone else does?
Ride safe,

NO!! I am 67yrs, started riding some kind of motorized two wheelers, since the mid 60's got legal in '69. Rubbed shoulders with Detroit hard core bikers most of my life. Trick was, I never got into their business, didn't walk around with a bad boy hard on, treated them with respect and courtesy. Never had an incident, maybe occasional one line ribbing, if you can't handle that you should stay away from the public. Have several inventions to join a club, but being independent, I respectfully declined. Have been around the block a few times.

Harleys started the trend and those who are in it for the trend tend to be a bit shallow and condescending. Those who are in it for the love of riding seem to appreciate the Valk. Kind of like the old saying all show no go, the Congress or any other thing that the true reason for owning, or doing something is not known. Real men, real riders, real people in general are not threatened and can enjoy life without the limits of persona or pack mentality.

I know a rider who is an older Gent, and is a full time Christian goin to church 3 times a week man.
Humble as heck , unassuming and meek and a pleasure to be around .
He gets on his Harley and turns into a cocky , Im a badass , don't waste my time kinda guy.
HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate riding with him anymore. Its all about getting from point A to point B. and don't waste my time with all the rest.
Im serious , wheres the disconnect here people?
LOL hahaha?
Now were talkin big time BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN. ok? One day he tells me he wants to hang out with " HIS PEOPLE " -- meaning the quasi biker rat crowd , who hate God and are Atheists at best.
Im gonna leave it here before I make a shitload of judgement calls .
is the VRCC full of Idiots like this to?
Maybe it goes back to the old days ? Riding a motorcycle at 90 mph is a crazy thing to do? And anyone intelligent dosnt take that chance on a bike?
