Said a Major killed a bomb maker outside the "rules of engagement????"  Screw rules of engagement, he was responsible for killing or injuring a number of troops. I don't recall ever having a "rules of engagement" for our guys during WWII. Like my cousing told me once....if he was wearing a German uniform it was open season. Didn't make any difference if he was taking a crap under a tree, that's how he met his demise.  tickedoff

Does this mean that war is now political. "Oh- I know. You have to submit a requisition to kill the bad guy. Send him an E-mail and tell him to stay put until we find out if we can shoot him.

Rules of engagement could be petty bullshit, or it could be somewhat worse.  How it arises to the level of a war crime is a huge question.  The facts are unknown.

If the deceased was a bombmaker, that is all I need to know.  About the only thing I can think of was if he was unarmed with his hands up trying to surrender, and you let someone see you shoot him who would tell. (If he's a known bombmaker, do you want to walk up to him and take him prisoner???)

Why anyone would volunteer to serve in today's PC military is another very good question (esp in combat).  I decide to risk my life (and torture and beheading if captured) for an entire tour or two, and I have to get permission every time I want to pull the trigger?   I don't think so.  Hey Mr. politician, Mr State Dept person, Mr UN bureaucrat, here's my rifle.... go on out there and show me how it's done (try not to crap your pants).  No wonder there are big morale problems.

Aside from a few small successful operations and maybe Gulf I, the US has lacked political will to win any war since Korea.  You either go in to crush the enemy with overwhelming force and brute power, or you don't go at all.  The ability to have real time satellite/GPS secure communications with the front line from the white house or pentagon is NOT a good thing (warriors need to be led only by other professional warriors, not bureaucrats). You give us the mission, and we do the work any way we see fit, and you have no need to know a dam thing about how we do the mission. If you don't like it, here's my rifle, you do the mission.

There is no substitute for victory.  Period.

This crap started in Vietnam, and has gotten progressively worse.  The PC bunch would never subject themselves to this kind of BS if they would even dare to serve.  In war ROE serve one purpose and that is to get a ton of our guys killed.  Ours went like this.  Send you out on a combat assault, and tell you that the only way you can fire your weapons is if you come under heavy enough fire that the only way to break contact is to fire back.  With what this administration has done to the military services, I am very blessed that my 23 years was finished in 81.  It was getting political then and now I just couldn't do it.  I really feel sorry for the troops these days and they are in my prayers.

Jess, I agree 100%. You have a mission? OK, then just give me the equipment to do the job and go back to your tea party and don't ask stupid questions afterward. These ISIS jerks need to be taught a huge and bloody lesson with the full force available to our troops, but you know it won't be done that way. Don't try to contain the enemy, destroy them....totally. This candy ass we have in the White House now doesn't know diddly about how to command the military, what makes him think he could run a country. What a waste of perfectly good oxygen.  Angry

Having been an 11 year Navy veteran myself -

Give our top ranking officers the scope of the mission to be accomplished. Stand back and let the professionals plan and execute the mission you outlined, letting it filter down to the appropriate unit commanders (down to the platoon commanders and squad leaders) . Provide them the resources they need to accomplish the mission - no compromises. After the action, provide for the wounded no matter how much they need support (if you can't afford to take care of our wounded and  disabled veterans - you can't afford to send them on a mission).

At least the Bush presidents understood this, both having been veterans themselves.

Bomb maker dead is good

Political correctness should be against the law if this is it

If Silver Star recipient had raped a soldier, indescriminate killing of
non combatants or committed a major
offense off the line that would be one thing, as the rules are no secret
but the brass havent told
us what the hell it is and it smells rotten the way its being done
in theatre exposed to harm we should let the soldiers some slack to use their best judgment

When I was at T I-Treasure Island-mustering out I talked to some Swift Boat crew members. I was NOT on a Swift Boat BUT I'm "familiar" with BOGUS R O E. In case ya'll have fergitted I'm a Nam Vet. These guys from the Swift Boat crews told me basically the same story. Puttin along fat dumb and happy and EXTREMELY WARY not-IF-they drew fire-but WHEN they drew fire-they had to KNOW what province they were in had to have their base see if they could raise the proper province chief and get permission to return fire!  Roll Eyes uglystupid2 Course in the mean time they WERE gittin the crap shot out of themselves. What ACTUALLY happened more often than not they engaged the enemy as soon as they received fire and asked "permission" after the fact.  cooldude Seems like they had a longer life span doin it THEIR way. BOGUS r o e got a lot of my Bros and Sis's in Nam killed!  Cry When we flew we had an unwritten agreement as a crew-do what we NEEDED to stay alive and sort the cheap crap out AFTER we land. I'd like to see those candy assed chair warmin feather merchants get out on the front of a patrol that stood better than a 100% chance of goin hot. Myself I believe the ONLY folks figuring out whether someone gets a medal or not should be folks that have the same award they are putting someone in for and should have had at least 2 tours of combat. From what I've read-the whole durned shootin match against this Major sounds-BOGUS! RIDE SAFE.

But, but, but the spokesperson for the State Dept. said today we can't just kill all the ISIS bastrads. Some of them might just need jobs.

In the worst case they just might need to be able to start a business so they stop running around with AK- 47's.

https://www.google.com/search?q=state+dept+isis+needs+jobs&rlz=1I7ADBR_en&gws_rd=ssl#q=marie+harf+isis+ak+47+business

Even though the liar in chief has previously said if you have a business you didn't build that.

Well done Dem/Lib/Prog voters every day you are being ridiculed by those you voted for.

Please let's discuss why I'm wrong.  cooldude

I believe the enemy has already set the terms of engagement. All is fair in love and war. We should be able to find them jobs scraping up the pieces that we blast to smithereens. We are at simple survival, and I really am not keen on a repetition of the dark ages.  tickedoff

I got a job for them.

Suicide belt tester.  One each, alone in a bunker.

I'd pay them $15 an hour (that's fair).

If that doesn't satisfy the State Dept spokeswoman (Marie Harf), then send her personally TDY to ISIS HQ (alone) with a book of employment applications (in animal husbandry).  Let us know how that goes....... you airhead.

She probably holds down a GS15 position at $150K a year (or more as SES)....... what a bargain.

Note to State Dept:  The ONLY way to deal with these people is with hot lead, shrapnel and napalm.  This is a military solution.  The State department has no solution, and no opinion worth hearing (on almost anything, except the canapes and cocktails at embassy luncheons).

The way to deal with the State Dept is to cut their budget in half (for starters).

There are undeniable ties between the rise of radical Islamic factions operating in the United States and the escalating number of mosques within our nation. Quietly, behind closed doors, a number of America's mosques are operating as a breeding ground for jihad, the gradual implementation of Sharia, and eventual Islamic supremacy.

Now a Mosque in Texas is openly offering Sharia-based rulings in civil cases.

The Islamization of America is a real and present danger. Extremist Mosques must be exposed and shut down for the sake of our national security. Please see my update below – Mat.

David,

The rise of Sharia in any society or legal system is more than a threat. It is more than a movement. By definition, Sharia is a vehicle for the overthrow of Western Civilization through the imposition of Islamic law and culture – and now America's mosques are moving to implement Sharia as an alternative legal system.

A Sunni mosque in Irving, Texas, has established an Islamic Tribunal to hear "voluntary" disputes among the Muslim community based on Sharia.

Breitbart Texas spoke with one of the judges, Dr. Taher El-badawi.

"He said the tribunal operates under Sharia law as a form of 'non-binding dispute resolution.' El-badawi said their organization is 'a tribunal, not arbitration.' The four Islamic attorneys call themselves "judges" not "arbitrators."

Yet, when asked what would happen if Sharia conflicts with Texas law, El-badawi said, "we follow Sharia law." Texas judicial precedent does not allow the application of foreign law that violates public policy, statutory, or federal laws.

On the surface, the tribunal may appear to be benign, but security experts have issued repeated warnings about the slow, systematic jihad that operates beneath the surface of many mosques.

+ + America's mosques - a breeding ground for jihad and Islamic supremacy.

The explosive growth of mosques across the American landscape in recent years is no coincidence. We have a pro-Islamic administration that favors political correctness over national security, a President who refuses to identify the enemy, and a porous southern border open to anyone who chooses to enter.

Many experts believe that American mosques are breeding grounds for the teaching of hatred of Jews, Christians, and all unbelieving "infidels" who are not Muslims.

Sheikh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani told the State Department at an open forum that "the most dangerous thing that is going on now in these mosques... is the extremist ideology. Because (Islamic jihadists) are very active, they took over the mosques; and we can say that they took over more than 80 percent of the mosques that have been established in the U.S. And there are more than 3,000 mosques in the U.S. So it means that the methodology or ideology of extremists has been spread to 80 percent of the Muslim population."

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith," says Omar M. Ahmad,
founder of CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), "but to become dominant. The Quran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

Could their intentions be any more clear?

Every mosque that preaches violence against Americans must be shut down. The rise of radical Islam must be exposed.

Liberty Counsel's powerful message to Congress and the oversight committee of Homeland Security calls on them to expose these fanatical elements and take appropriate action.

We are also calling on them to secure our borders in the name of national security.

+ + Home of Ford Motor Co. becomes Nation's biggest Islamic zone.

While the Ford Motor Company put Dearborn, Michigan on the map, that city is now most often associated with a burgeoning Islamic population. It is also the site of the largest mosque in America, called the Islamic Society of North America, a mega-structure that is a coordinating hub of Islamic activity in the United States.

In 2012, a YouTube video began circulating that showed a group of Christian street preachers being stoned, and pelted by bottles, garbage, eggs, and even urine, by Muslims during the annual Arab Festival held in Dearborn.

The crowd became so unruly that the bleeding and injured Christians, who were carrying signs proclaiming their faith in Christ, were forced to leave by the police. Ironically, instead of protecting the Christians and upholding their right to peaceably assemble and express themselves, police arrested some of them and charged them with disturbing the peace.

This is what Dearborn has become after years of Islamic immigration. It is the Islamic capital of the nation, with nearly 50 percent of its population now comprised of Muslims mostly descending from Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.

Help stop the Islamization of America!

Liberty Counsel Action's Fax Barrage will send an immediate message to your two Texas senators and representative, and to congressional leaders in the House and Senate Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees.

But, but, but a possible presidential candidate for 2016 said we had to "respect" and "empathise" with the enemy.

“This is what we call smart power,” she continued, “using every possible tool and partner to advance peace and security, leaving no-one on the sidelines, showing respect, even for one’s enemies, trying to understand and – insofar as psychologically possible – empathize with their perspective and point of view, helping to define the problems, determine the solutions."

And yet the willingly ignorant will suck up all the fould= words spewed out as if she and others are vomiting manna.
