Cut the corner and take 128 into Moab.  We did it after the first Montrose rally and it was a beautiful ride.

I'm working on a way to fit that in.

Kind of worried about the stretch from Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Moab... Might be a bit boring for a 12 yr old??

I'd suggest don't turn south by Gunnison.

Keep west to the Million Dollar Hwy south Hwy 550.

More dramatic scenery than Hwy 149 to South Fork.

What type of rental vehicle are you getting?

We went touring Colorado on a Goldwing back in 1998. We have been to a lot of these places , but need a refresher.

Since you are so close with the route, be sure to look up, Mexican Hat Utah (the rock), Moki Dugway and Goosenecks state parks. All are great sites for a quick or long view.

If you do change the route a bit, be sure to see all three, they are worth the drive.

THANK YOU RAYMOND.

I was trying to remember Moki Dugway for the past week.

I got Dugway but couldn't get the preceding word right.

Now I can go look at it on Google Earth.

The ST wasn't too happy going up the loose gravel with the drop off right next to me.  Shocked

More scenic from Bryce is to go east on 12 to Torrey then east again on 24 through Capitol Reef NP.

Bryce will be a hard choice, if she really likes to hike then Bryce is a great place for day hikes. If not then it's a 1 day see in my opinion. (Be warned for you, it's 8,000' old man) Smiley

FYI you will be sorry you're not on the bikes if you take 12 East from Bryce. It's considered to be the best MC road in Utah by most riders. Beats the heck out of I-70 in a car or bike.

Hiking... yeah not so much.
Besides this antique, fat, sea level living Grandpa isn't much into hiking in the mountains either.

I was hoping to do some camping but if we fly that is going to be tough. I looked into renting an RV... Yeah... that is another thing that isn't going to happen. They are really proud of that stuff.
I could just buy the camping gear and donate it to charity.
