road kill will get 5 bucks for that hide at the buyers.   Grin

reminds me of the bust my gut laugh in the 80's when growing up during deer hunting time, my older brother thought picking up dead racoons alongside the road was a good idea to get a few bucks at the local fur buyer.  Well,  1 week later while sitting in the trash bag,  my dad and me (older brother was working) went to the buyers in a nearby town to get some money for the hides.
Well, after waiting 10-15 minutes from the first 2 trappers getting several 100's of their nice fox /coyote furs, etc..,  my Dad plops on the table a stinky dead racoon or two on the table all bloated up and guts hanging out.

I will NEVER forget that time seeing everyone's face.  The fur buyer gave my dad a few bucks in gas money for his troubles is all, not even really paying for the gas to go to next town even.  As I am typing this,  I am still busting a gut some 30 years later.  My Dad was SOOO pissed and cursing mad all the way home and I tried not to laugh going home or I would have gotten back handed back in the day.  Too funny, had to be there for sure.  Needless to say, my Dad chewed my older brother out to tell him NEVER again.   Grin Grin

Then there's the small problem that not all road kill is actually deceased.

Jeff Foxworthy tells a good story about this.
