Pretty cool. Way back in 2001, I bought the last black Interstate that Chicago Cycle had. It was the largest dealership in the Midwest at that time(now defunct). Somewhere, I found a place online that would disclose the dealer invoice of the Valkyrie for 5 bucks.

I paid that price and also learned that the manufacture holdback on a motorcycle was 10%-not 3% like on a car. I think the black IS was retailing for about 15300 to 15400 back then. Dealer Invoice was 14000. If one then subtracted the holdback, the price would be roughly 12500. Honda was running a $500 options promotion at that time that the sales kid just minus-ed off the price.

I ended up getting that 2001 I/S for 11995 and out the door with tax and license was 13840.
I was also supposed to get $50 dollars for gas as a promotion for traveling over 50 miles to the dealership. King Jerry(store manager) informed me that I would NOT be getting the 50 because the sales kid screwed up and gave me the bike for their cost.

My local dealer didn't even have a black Interstate but was selling a standard for somewhere in that 13k price range...before taxes and title.

So I guess I did ok. Smiley

I bought my 99 interstate in February of 2001 it was a leftover still In the crate. I got it at Max pitts in Peru IN and got a great price. They are out of Business now just like Chicago cycle.  Honda just couldn't sell enough Valkyries at list price. Kinda like the F6B I have been looking at them and have seen prices as low as $13,999 for new 2013. Don't think the F6B will be around much longer.

Honda dealers that do high volume are selling below the invoice cost.  Western Honda in Phoenix and Honda of Russellville for example, can beat the invoice cost on Gold Wings.  I paid about $1000 less than invoice (as listed on that web site) for a Gold Wing from Western Honda.
