turns out it's a common problem with the resistor module. I got on the net to nail down what the problem was and then went to rock auto to see how much the part might be. with the wiring harness it was under 30 bucks, so I ordered a fuel filter too it's about that time.

for giggles I went to advance auto to see how much a brick store would charge, $99  Roll Eyes

then I went to auto zone, they wanted $120  Shocked

I understand the need to mark up a product, but you will lose business if you go too high. I have to wait until next week for the parts and if the price would have been close I would have bought locally. for 3-4 times as much money I wait for it and sweat a little. cooldude

You didn't say what year. GM had a recall on some blower resistors for melted connectors. you have to replace the resistor and the connector. Is the connector melted? I checked the recall was a special policy. The recall is for 03 to 07 trucks for 10 years or 150,000 miles......

Same here called up Tecumseh to get a carburetor on my problem Ariens snowblower made in the early 80's.  List price is 78 bucks,  price for same part elsewhere calling is 116 bucks for a small carb for a 5hp tecumseh engine.  Supply and demand I guess??

What's wrong with just a 10-15% markup?

I got hosed at the Ariens dealer after spending 95 bucks 2x's in for same problem with carb. all they did was take it off, soak it both times in cleaning solution and sent me on my merry way.  Both times ran fine for 5-10 minutes at dealer, but next day starting it at home, will not run much at all sputtering on dying on anything over low idle speed.  Willing to split the difference since NOT fixed giving them something at least, but knew 95 bucks for just labor is bogus but was hoping it would be fixed right after 2 attempts.  Dealer didn't want to split the so-called labor (about 1 1/2 hours which is way too much), so going to fight with my credit card company to get it all back now since dealer refused to be reasonable.   Hey, if NOT fixed, do not pay (or partially pay) is my opinion.  Dealer told me no parts available and that is bogus as well, they just don't want to mess with it anymore after only doing labor.  My opinion, but soaking small old carb in cleaning solution works 50/50 chance at best, especially for a 30+ year old carb.

my neighbor, a nice 60 something lady took her car to the dealer just to check out a code. her live in boyfriend is very good at fixing car problems but needed to know which code was the culprit as it was giving him three.
they hooked up her car and told her the cabin filter needed changing (a $95 service  Shocked) and could they schedule it for her, she said no thanks she just needed the part number. she went around the corner to parts and bought the filter and brought it home to have the BF install. once she found out how easy it was to install the filter she was a bit pissy about them wanting $95.  Wink

Neighbor friend of mine needed the exhaust header on a 94 Ford  V-6. He went to Ford-ridiculous covers what they wanted-couple other part houses and I mentioned Rock Auto on line and he ordered from there and it was half or less than Ford wanted for the same part. And it was shipped ZACKLY like they said it would be and arrived WHEN thy said it would. RIDE SAFE.

I am now thinking I hope the resistor works, not sure but  I remember a post about refunds not getting done for bad electrical parts purchased online. Undecided

You should be able to test it if you take it out and find the wires to the blower put 12v to one and ground to the other and it works the blower is ok. If you had a voltage meter and have climate control you should be able to find a thin wire on the blower resistor and the voltage should vary between 3 to 8v as you change blower speed up and down. Also check the power and ground to the resistor to make sure you have both. Although your diagnosis is probably correct I still would by from a local store.

Not much info.  What year and model ?  But, its probably the resistor and connector, common problem and easy to fix.

Yes very common and there is a special  policy. Call the dealer near you and they can check if yours is covered. If it is will be fixed for free  or pm me the vin # and will check for you.  I've worked at GM dealer for twenty years.
