looks like they are going to offer me something like $6500 for my 2000 IS , but that is just verbal for now
Im looking for a savy rider here who has gone through the settlement process
Im going to print out current ads for sold bikes on ebay , etc in case the low ball me in the end

I have an endless amount of accessories and chrome and the adjuster advised that Im probably better taking them off the bike sine they will prorate the value . I do have $3500 in optional equipment coverage but example:
I bought Hondaline bag rails (the nice ones ) bout 12 years ago and paid $200+ . I think they are worth more now. can the insurance company give me $100 . I don't paln to give them receipts for the stuff that has gone up in value ............
Lastly I want to pull my ultimate seat off because I have a rear and front seat and both backrest
but I didn't keep my original seat .....WOndering if its worth buying a used IS seat on ebay and pulling the Ultimate to have the full set for sale later

Take the settlement and buy it back from the insurance company for salvage value.

You can then sell the good parts for good money.

The first bid will usually be low.

Tell them what you think it will take to replace the bike.  Challenge them to show you local or semi-local sales that justify their bid.

You are likely better off having them reduce the payment and allowing you to keep the bike if you are willing to deal with selling the undamaged portion yourself.

I have Progressive and when we totaled my '97 Standard in 2012 they gave me $8965, that was the full 5k in accesorays with a $500 deductible. The Agent said due to the damage (bent frame) there was no buy back.

I used cycletrader mostly to show the comparable value of my bike. http://www.cycletrader.com Mine was an Interstate, so I made them look at all Interstates, not jus' my model year, as comps. I'd do the same for Standard or Tourer. For aftermarket "goodies" you don't necessarily hafta show receipts, but you will hafta show the comps for what they're selling for now.
I used this to search parts on all of Craigslist... http://www.searchtempest.com/
(Research is your best weapon.)
Never let the bike go to the insurance company!
They wanted to pick the bike up a.s.a.p, told them NO, it's MY bike & I'll decide what I want to do with it. They reduced the eventual settlement price & I kept My ride (even though it's totaled). Don't be afraid to haggle over the reduction, & I mean HAGGLE. I got 'em down from almost $1100 to less than $700. Always remember, it's your ride, you're not "buying it back"!

Some years ago My Bud totaled his Tour, did a buyback dirt cheap, and we put a new frame in, serial numbered the same as the old.  Since then he has rolled up another 150,000 miles on it. Never had to change the original title or anything.  Do yourself a favor and do the research, it can payoff.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I just received a check from State Farm for $2700 from my minor accident. I was worried about them totaling it but didn't. Now for a new paint job.  Undecided

A year an a half ago I totaled my 99 IS, bottom line, Insurance paid $6750 and totaled it. I bought it back for $400 with a certificate of destruction title. I parted it out, engine went in a tourer I built for my self, same with the chrome rims and forks that were not damaged . had the saddle bags repaired and painted. Sold every thing else, rear fender set, ultimate seats , trailer hitch etc. ended up making about $2000 on the parts I sold off. Most adjusters will work with you.
