I went round and round about the Corbin but most people said they were too small.

As far as I know, people who have and have used the Corbin bags say "they are smaller than
original Valkyrie bags". I think the "they are too small" folks haven't tried them.

I wish they were bigger, but I am glad that I have them... they're funky on the inside too,
you have to load them carefully or else you have voids/wasted-space...

Yup my feelings also the disadvantages are, price and size the advantages are they are bags and look great, made well and to me complete the look of the bike. Do I wish they were bigger inside yes could this be accomplished by a better design in mounting, yes. Someday Ill tackle that one just not now.  ;D  The outside of the bags are about as big as they could be and still look great on the bike, the way they are mounted cuts off some room that would make the bags much larger interior wise.

I'm sure one day I'll pick up a set used but since their primary function appears to be looking good, they're not a priority.  I like being able to load down and not worry.

Even at $1600, with our CAD doing so poorly these days, I doubt I will buy a set anytime soon.  I have found a few other hard bags out there for a lot less.  Although, they will not look as nice as the Corbins, they are easier on the pocket book.  The soft bags I put on are ok, but nothing to write home about.  I saw a set of RS top loading bags that I have in the running for a future set if my soft bags turn out to be crap.  The main problem with my soft bags is that they are not lockable.  I need something that someone cannot get into when I am not around the bike.

Thanks for the link!  Those are one heck of a heavy-duty mounts!!  :o

MeanCycle also has Corbin bags at a discount on their web site.

It is more than just looks - the Corbins are pretty much the only locking, waterproof hard bags specifically made for the new Valk.  Any other hard bag is generic and fit can be questionable, but of course I'm looking at every option.
