As a Teacher in the public school system, I have ridden a motorcycle down the hall and into my classroom.

You da Man!!!    cooldude cooldude

MP

Are you serious Valker?   You must have a very lenient school system pretty relaxed or you have some pull with the higher ups there?

A guy at work almost got fired for pushing by hand not running his 50cc scooter inside the warehouse bulding since severe weather was coming down.  It is a food/non food facility even though easily 70 yards away from any food product, mgmt. did not like it at all.  I didn't think it should matter no biggie.

My former doctor I went to asked me if that was my cycle parked outside and I said yes.  He said he always wanted a cycle but his 'profession' as being a Dr. would frown upon it.  I told him NO way would being a family medicine Dr. would or should interfer with riding a cycle, but he thought so guessing being too dangerous or something, no idea what people think nowadays I guess??

Sounds like they are creating a hostile work environment base solely on your choice to use an energy efficient mode of transportation.

-RP
I don't think a Valkyrie rider would be wise to attempt the "energy efficient" argument. They might do their research and insist he rides something that gets better mileage than a small car.

Wow

I am lucky to work for myself, nobody gives me $hit.

When I take the Valk or more often the BMW 1150rtp to Court I park right in front of the Courthouse
next to the guy giving away Obamaphones and the guy handing out the free moving and storage coupons for people on welfare being evicted for nonpayment or destroying apartments

Folks on the line (metal detectors ) to get in often comment on either bike  And armed court officers like Raverez used to be watch my bike

There is a " hat check" for guns, knives, cameras and my helmet inside as well

Many people including Judges and Clerks get a kick out of seeing me show up on the bike and are certainly jealous when I get to leave around lunchtime heading north toward my office on the Bronx Westchester border. Only 1 Judge rides and he parks at the courthouse on 161 not the Housing Court

Sometimes it takes me a L O N G time to get back because I miss my exit.....by a LOT of miles   cooldude

Vanderbilt Women's Center to Lecture Men on 'Healthy Masculinities'

Not that we all couldn't be a little more heath conscious, but that doesn't sound like what they're teaching at all.

Hey, I got your healthy masculinity Right Here!!   (Really, check it out.  2funny)

I'm a bit surprised at some of the tone of this thread.  What happened to the corperate support most of y'all thow ur allience to?    My company has the right to fire you at any time for any reason or no reason.   Unless you are in the Union, then you can  be
disciplined up to and including termination for Just Cause only. There have been cases in the past where employers canceled the health insurance of those who rode motorcycles. The AMA took them on and I believe, help me out on this Momz, was successful in getting this overturned.  BS like this is why ALL motorcyclists should join their State ABATE and the AMA/MRF

I figured if you are riding to and from work it's on your own time not your employers, so I'm not sure why it would be any of their business how you arrive, just so long as you do arrive. But then again I've never worked in the corporate world!
I like to ride to work when I can but it's real hard pulling a livestock trailer with a Valk!!

Of course it is irresponsible to ride your motorcycle to work. Can't believe you can even think that it is a responsible thing to do.

You should be blowing right past the place and heading for the hills, the curves and FREEDOM!!!!!

That would be the responsible thing to do.

In this country we all pretty much work for ourselves.  Some of us have sold and do sell our services to a large corporation for a short or a long time.  With every exchange we make a conscious or passive decision on how much we are willing to sell and for how much.  No oone has asked to buy my right to ride to work.  If they did I'm fairly certain the asking price would be quite high.

The boss's point of view is simple, but selfish.  When you ride a big motorcycle, people are going to look up to you.  Riding that big bike shows that you are a take action guy that does what he wants.  The bike makes you appear powerful.

That exec sees you as a challenger.  Consider meeting with him to tell him that he is still a big boss, and as a dynamic man he deserves a motorcycle too.

Hey - one of my cars is a red 2000 VW New Beetle - TDI with a 5 speed manual replacement of the 4 speed automatic and "a bit"  hopped up (like  - 170% of stock torque and horsepower - I can break traction and spin the drive wheels in 1st AND 2nd gear). I've always said that "only men confident in themselves will drive a Beetle" Smiley  . She's my other baby (besides the Valk Smiley ).
