showing respect and support for the fallen COULD make you a target! As many of you are aware of I am a Patriot Guard Rider Ride Captain. I decided to post this separate from Wayne's-Solo1-post. But it IS along the same lines. I do NOT know where P G R received their information but we have been warned about POSSIBLE-emphasis mine-that standing a Flag line for a fallen L E O could bring us into the line of fire! I personally am taking this VERY seriously. Here in Missouri open carry is legal without a permit BUT we as P G R are asked to NOT open carry. P G R-again here in Missouri-have no problem with us carrying concealed as long as it STAYS concealed. P G R are drawing up guidelines for this threat we appear to be taking very seriously. As Wayne pointed out-sign of the times! I hope and PRAY that we are preparing for something that NEVER happens but I'd rather be PREPARED. Facing reality there ARE folks that want nothing more than to disrupt society and if they kill some folks in the process-oh well. After hearing and seeing what is taking place in other sections of our ONCE great Nation I DO NOT believe I'm crying wolf!  Cry In a nutshell just like riding-be AWARE of your surroundings and be REAY to act-NOT react. RIDE SAFE.

Any wack-job walks up to a PGR line and produces a weapon deserves what he gets.  (Just make sure all 37 entrance wounds are in the front)

Drive-by would be my concern.  A perimeter security guy between the PGR line and the nearest road might be a good idea (with a little air horn - hit the dirt boys).

I have been made aware of the LEO/PGR issue as well. My opinion and guess would be that in the event of a LEO line of duty death or such a high profile LEO mission, the the Law Enforcement community will not invite the PGR if a credible threat exists as we would wind up adding to their security issues.

I'd be pretty sure they will tightly secure all aspects of the funeral and severely limit any public participation. Particularly if there are perceived line of fire issues.

I've had the Honor of attending a couple of LEO killed in the line of duty Missions and a PGR RC at one of them.
The LEO and First Responder presence is beyond belief and the tears flow.

But at this time, the PGR presence would make their job of securing a possible volatile situation, high profile funeral service and all its aspects, more difficult.

If invited, the PGR should attend.  If not invited, or the PGR services are declined, start a PGR memorial fund for the family or for the local LEO community.

Bout a month or so back I was on a P G R mission for a fallen L E O. While I was NOT the Ride Captain in charge I am friends with the man who was the R C I C. He let it be known that there were enough Officers assigned for protection that we as P G R members were asked to keep our personal weapons concealed. Nothing came up during the Flag line or the escort or the ceremony at the cemetery. Once I see what P G R National suggests I WILL be in contact with the Senior R C from my area to most likely further refine our outline for protection. Between Wayne's-Solo 1-post and what P G R is gearing up for and what has already happened in my State and what is currently happening in other States ALMOST have the feeling like I'm going back to the Nam for another tour.   Undecided And THAT was a feeling I didn't much care for then-let alone now. Makes one wonder where ZACKLY we are headed as a Nation? Going to Church and standing a Flag line of Honor should NOT put ones life at risk! The NEEDING of armed guards at either venue is reprehensible but sorry to say-necessary! THAT'S the World we are living in today.  Cry Sorry azzed state of affairs if truth be told. RIDE SAFE.
