If we want to erase gender lines, fine, do it,
Impossible. Even a surgeon's scalpel can't do this. Agreed... The point I was making was if we're going to allow boys in dresses to play against girls then why bother having separate boys sports leagues and girls ones. In other words instead of a girls soccer league and a boys soccer league, just have a soccer league, period. (Not that I'm necessarily in favor of that, but that's basically what we're doing in practice.)

In addition to all this, there should be a difference in how we handle schools and children (more protection, less social experimentation, less indoctrination), than consenting adults.
Course, schools, universities, teacher's unions are the leading edge of liberal philosophy (also known as mumbo jumbo).
Any idea what would have happened if I told my 5th grade teacher I thought I was a girl and wanted to use the girl's bathroom in 1960 something? And my elementary teachers were among the finest teachers I ever had. When I entered Jr Hi, I think I was better educated than many who allegedly graduate HS today.

They're actresses, too.
Ladies who say they are actors are confused.

I think we should make all these confused people earn the respect they want. Give them a rusty butter knife and tell them to wack it off themselves. If they do it they will automatically be granted respect and acknowledged as a female instead of a male and get to use the ladies room and womens locker room. You really dont hear much about women wanting to be a man. That one is more difficult, sure they can take hormones and things like that to gain muscle and hair but they stay more quiet about it than these cross dressers. Like I said if you want to be a woman, here is your rusty butter knife.

Seems to me your solution, the use of a rusty butter knife, would take a lotta balls to actually do and thus really defeat the purpose.

Exactly, the point is I do not agree with some little prick feeling like a girl and demanding to use the womens bathrooms and locker rooms. Before long it will be government mandated that every place of business and school be equipped with gender neutral bathrooms just because several people can't decide what they want to be. It's not a choice, this was decided before you could even think for yourself. If your birth certificate says male then that is what you are until you die. This Bruce Jenner crap makes me sick and that POS started this whole thing and even gave it a tv show. I can deal with gay, but I cant deal with cross dressing and being confused about what gender they are.

My feelings? I figure God made them, straights, gays, and transgenders, and since I can't believe that HE makes mistakes, nor can I believe that HE makes junk, I have to believe that there's a purpose, and it's not mine to know. Yes, We are all made in God's image. But, God isn't always responsible for how we turn out. None of us are what or who God intended for us to be. This is because we live in a fallen world, blame Adam and "Original Sin". When Adam and Eve sinned and were banished from the Garden of Eden, Satan was given charge of the Earth and he will be in charge until Armageddon. It is the presence of sin in the world that causes sickness. This is NOT meant to be interpreted to mean that people become sick because they sin. Sometimes, our ailments come about because of something that we did to ourselves, sometimes things occur simply because sin is present in the world and Satan roams about looking for souls to devour. I believe that this transgender thing is a sickness. And I believe that it is due to the latter. They say that they were "born this way", maybe they were, I don't know. What I do know is that God did not intend for them to be this way, so therefore he didn't make them that way. God doesn't make mistakes and he would NEVER make someone to live a lifestyle that contradicts his word. Very thoughtful post I have little understanding of the situation. But I agree with you , they are God`s children. Not exactly. True, We are all made in God's image and he desires us all to be his children. But, to be a child of God one must first accept God and His Son Jesus Christ. It's kinda like an adoption process, the parent (God) wants to adopt the child and care for it, but the child must accept them as their parent and submit to their authority. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galations 3:26 NKJV

I don't know either. But if we are going to use that logic, how does that take into account people born with a handicap of some kind ? I am no expert in this area but I am told there are even people born with both female and male genitalia. Since as you say God does not make mistakes what are those people to do ? Surely you don't believe they were born that way from some sin or evil. Are they supposed to slink off into the recesses of our society so that we won't be bothered with them ? Like I say, I am not a particularly religious man. I BELIEVE there is a God but I can't say what his intentions or purposes are for me or anyone else. But I don't believe things are so black and white as to these people are all sick in some way. God can't possibly be that cruel.

Finally, a well delivered post. I read most of the comments, and it is clear that there are a lot of negativity and misconceptions about transgender people. Please realize that gender is NOT black and white, it's quite grey and fluid. Only our current society has defined gender in a certain way. Now, our society is simply updating because our clinical understanding of gender and transgender is better understood and recognized. I guarantee that most of you know someone that considers themselves to be a different gender than their birth gender. Unfortunately, over a large number of these people never tell anyone nor change. They live with it and hide it. A staggering 40% commit suicide. That number is based on only what is known and reported, so the number is actually higher. Please do not confuse gender with clothing. At many times in the history of humanity, men wore heels, make-up and wigs..along with lace adorned blouses. Final words. We have one life. We all want to be happy. We ride motorcycles to make us happy. We conduct our daily lives in ways that make us happy. As humans, we have the ability to love. Transgender people are not to be shunned, feared or hated. They are fellow human being trying to live a happy life. Women/girls are generally raised to have much more modesty than men. So we don't want men in our dressing/rest rooms. Heck, we don't want other WOMEN watching us ....
This carries over into the transgender world, or at least the few I personally know. The MTF (Male to Female) are open about it; the FTM (Female to Male) transgenders that I know generally live in terror of being found out.
The FTM look at the beatings delivered to gays, and know that if they are found out, they'll get much worse.
I had a good friend who was FTM, and he said he knew from the time he was about 5 he wasn't really a girl. His family basically disowned him when he made the change. Another FTM acquaintance made the decision to make the change after (s)he left the Marine Corps. It involved cutting off relationships with almost all friends.
The decisions aren't made lightly, the surgeries aren't cheap, they aren't reversible. The hormones, well, my friend had quit taking the hormones sometime before we met, his beard wasn't thick but he had one. The acquaintance continued the hormones, and last time I saw him, he had a very thick beard. And no (because I'm sure someone will ask), as of the time I knew them, neither had had a penis attached. And neither planned to. If they did, it wouldn't look right, feel right, or work at all. I believe a pump device of some kind would have make an erection possible, but from what they told me, I'm not sure there would be enough feeling to make it worthwhile.
So, yeah, I understand both sides of the problem to some degree.

Okay, so this is the reality of the world in which we live. We will many of us disagree on what is fact and what is manipulation and assumption. I personally believe, strongly, that the separation of gender and sex is manufactured erroneously and based very much upon erroneous assumption. I also believe, strongly, that each human being should be treated with the respect due to a human being. Respect and acceptance does not mean necessarily an acknowledgement that each human being has made correct choices. That would be silly, wouldn't it? The weak argument that people should do what they feel like doing because "God made them that way" falls down when I tell you that I'm petty sure that I was born with an inclination to sexually relate to almost every woman that I meet. I'm pretty sure that behavior needs to be adjusted. I could be wrong but I'm going to move ahead with the belief that I'm right. Back to the original subject. I know there are lots of people who feel they are not in the correct body. I sympathize a bit with those folks. I feel my body is much older than it should be. Maybe that's a point for thanks. If a child declares that he, or she, does not feel comfortable using the restroom with other children of the same sexual designation I am sympathetic with that young person. I don't want that young person to be forced to do something that makes him, or her, unreasonably uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure the answer is not found in forcing a whole lot of other young people to do something that makes them unreasonably uncomfortable. Perhaps an option of having an unshared restroom is meaningful. I'm not certain what to do with the gym and showers. If you read the article you saw that in the example given that private restroom was offered but it was not acceptable. That young boy wanted nothing but being allowed in the girls' restroom. Perhaps it's time for home schooling. I'm going to be disagreeing with a lot of folks. My standards are that people who have weird ideas about what they are should not be treated with hate, disgust, or any way other than how a human being should be respectfully treated. I do think that a large portion of the world in which we live is very mistaken about what is or isn't right or acceptable. I learn to live with that and to keep my hands off most of the women I meet.

The short answer is , SIN made them that way. However, I am NOT saying that they sinned and caused their affliction. God NEVER intended for Sickness, Mental Illness or any number of afflictions to exist in this world. These things exist because sin exists. It is the presence of sin in the world that causes these things. Satan is the ruler of the earth and it is he who inflicts pain and suffering upon those who have done nothing to deserve it. Good people suffer bad things because evil exists in the world. And the more that we reject God, the worse this will get. God has given man the power of Free Will. Each of us are free to decide for ourselves if we are going to accept Jesus Christ and follow him. To reject God is to follow Satan. In today's world many people have chose to reject God and unwittingly follow Satan. The more followers that Satan has, the stronger his power to wreck havoc on this world becomes. So, God isn't bringing these things upon mankind as punishment for their sins, mankind is bringing this upon themselves and upon their fellow man.

I sure do not know what is going on in the mind of one who wants to be of the opposite gender. I believe that they should be free to think and do what works for them.
However, that does NOT extend to DEMANDING that others change their beliefs and actions to accommodate that person. They should NOT demand "rights" that make others uncomfortable. i.e., a boy demanding to use the girls restroom, or showers.
The offering of a private bathroom is the correct response. That way, he is not forced to use the restroom of the boys, who he does not believe he is, nor does he force himself onto the girls, who do not want him.
By DEMANDING that others do what they want, they offend them all.

If God did not make them that way then who did?
Not to get in a pissing match about religion. But it is this kind of thinking that turns me off to organized religion. Are you saying that the sins of society at large are what makes people born retarded, disabled, gay, birth defects, etc. ? Exactly. You don't have to like the answer, but that's it. The presence of evil in this world causes these things. The Bible tells us that there is no Sickness in Heaven, this is because there is No sin in Heaven. I am NOT saying that these people deserve to be sick and I am not saying that they did anything to bring it upon themselves. The common misconception is that people always suffer because of their own sins. This isn't true. Sometimes, people suffer simply because they live in a fallen world. I happen to agree

I'm pretty sure this is a black and white issue.
What one thinks doesnt matter, the equipment one carries is the defining characteristic upon which throne one should be seated. If one really means it, then the lopadickoffme type surgery's are done every day. Once the equipment meets the standard of the opposite throne, then one my use that one, and not perch on the former throne again.

What you say yes to, defines who you are, Sin like any decision carries consequences. We have all said yes to some bad decisions in our lives, but the Lord can heal all. Some are not the Lords and never call to Him to be healed. Sometimes traumatic experiences in our lives that are never healed open us up to the wrong influences and destroy a generation.
We never really know what love is till we experience the love the Lord gives us. That alone is enough to change the most hardened heart and change generations. We are not selfless enough to allow ourselves to pay the price and not get what we want. But if we know that there is a God that loves us and protects us, rewards us and has the story of our lives written and if we ask will help us how different would things be? If we know that this life is not the end. It allows you to go beyond your own boundaries because you trust the One who leads you. People quote the rules that sound harsh to those who don't know the Lord. But they are life to those who trust the Lord. They are not personal rules but Gods guide lines on how to live to have a good life and receive the promises of God. Don't shoot the messengers even if they seem harsh. Anything can change in the twinkling of an eye including one saying they are not what they were created to be.

Ultimately, this will make a lot of 11 year old boys very happy. Not so much for their female classmates. It's not surprising that such "IDIOCY" comes from California. I don't understand what it is in the liberal mindset that says, "the rights of the masses must be trampled upon to protect the few from an imagined injustice".

Understanding the liberal mindset is like trying to understand women ... wait a minute never mind... Anyhow, Lyn-Del made a good post, about compassion. I don't think these people's burdens can be or should be lifted by society as a whole, any more than the burdens that all of us carry from time to time can or should be lifted by society... burdens are for individuals and their friends and family to carry. Burdens are not the same as consequences, our burdens aren't our fault the way that the consequences of our actions are... I haven't had my turn at sliding down the highway yet. It will be a burden if a deer jumps out in front of me, and a consequence if it happens because I am daydreaming instead of focusing... -Mike "now it is motorcycle related..."

As far as understanding women, I don't either, and I are one. The California school decision won't affect 11 year old boys for a while. As I understand it, it will start out applying only to first grade, and be expanded over the years. Guess they figure kids that grow up with it will be ok with it. Personally, I'm not all that tickled with women bringing their young boys into the ladies rooms. Maybe if they actually supervised the kids, but the kids all too often run amok, looking under closed stall doors, etc. And I'm not talking about 2 year olds, some of those kids look to be over 10! Nothing they do will make all of us happy, but what ever happened to "majority rules"?
