I'm also a '53 model.

Man, that baby is a tank.

For being mostly original, it is in unbelievably nice condition. cooldude  (wish I aged that well)

My younger brother got my grandad's all original '53 Chevy Deluxe (his last or only new car).  Not as fancy as the Caddy, but still a nice car.  What I can never forget about it is my grandad smoked Marsh Wheeling stogies in it for 25 years.  You could not sit in that car without the pungent tobacco smell reminding you of him (even years after he passed)..... grandad himself always smelled like Marsh Wheeling's, and was born in 1908.

Not quite as nice as this one (was also all original)

Alien, paint it if you must, but I love it as it sits. All the cars are great. Looks like the VRCC could put on a car show too.

My 1969 Ford LTD. 429 engine with a C6 transmission.
Not so good looking anymore but a stout running car.
My son want's to restore it in the near future.

When I was 16, I took one like that out for a test drive (except it had a 428 Cobra Jet in it).

A bad thunderstorm came up, the car hydroplaned and i totaled it.  Cry

The dealer was going to make me pay for the car until my brother pointed out to them that it had a fresh inspection sticker and bald tires.

Another one that's not mine yet, but if my sickly father in law kicks the bucket, I'll hafta figure out something to do with... Could be fun for a bit, although I as a bit disappointed that it's an automatic, still pretty cool looking I guess...

My C5 is a 6 speed manual which is what I wanted over the 4 speed automatic. But the C7, I'd be auto all the way. With the paddle shifters and 8 speeds no need for a manual transmission in my book.

I'm just kinda old school on that. Three pedals good, two pedals bad. No matter the performance I was sorely disappointed in Nissan for making their supercar GT-R automatic only. Just... something missing without a clutch. But I know me and my attitude on that are a dying breed...

Even though the advanced automatics can be quicker than the most skilled operator of a manual there's something missing, you lose the orchestra of a skilled operator working the clutch, the gear shift, the throttle in perfect harmony.

I know, I know, how Luddite of me... Smiley

Moved to Texas soon after and got tight for money, and wound up selling

Gotta be able to separate the power plant from the driveline sometimes!
I'd a got dead a long time ago if I couldn't "butter the clutch" in a pinch!
(Guess I'm jus' an old curmudgeon myself.)

Not mine, but I had one jus' like it,
'65 Olds 442
Someone had pulled the original motor & installed a '68 455ci
with the Hurst close ratio 4 speed "quick stick"!
(She'd get all 4 gears in a quarter mile Evil)

This was my very first car, basically using lunch money and odd jobs,  I pretty much started building it from scratch, in 10th grade HS. I took Welding, Fabrication, Machining and Woodworking classes to make parts at school. At that time you couldn’t go to places like, Pete & Jake’s for parts, so you had to make your own. Also this was the first car I painted, pearl green with metallic green flames. Built 292 Chevy SB,  put a 371 GMC supercharger on it. I fab’ed. pretty much 80% of the car. The original body I had was steel, I guess it was sort of rare, because it had both opening doors on it, it also had a steel turtle back. Didn’t want to butcher the steel, so I went to Gratiot Auto Supply and bought a fiberglass body.  Drove it once, the on to the next project.

Funny, I just bought a '65 442 at auction out of a little old ladies estate in Knoxville a few months ago. Had not run since '87. Been working on it, spare time all summer. I'll try to drag it out and get a pic Sun. when it stops raining.

When you offered to let me take the Rocket out for a ride at IZ, I knew it was too much for me. I'd have a harder time turning down a ride in that monster.

Here's my affectionately called by me, "442" Roll Eyes
4 doors, 4 barrel, 2 speed
Actually a '65 Olds f85 Deluxe. The old lady banged it up a bit, lots of dents and scrapes, but it's solid as a jug. I got it running after a 28 year sleep. Went thru gas tank, carb, all tune up parts. Great fun to work on, so simple. Still got to freshen up brakes, and now heater core. Later go thru the fact. a/c. Has Deluxe interior, nice shape, but had front seat redone by Cubans, did a nice job. Ordered factory dark blue cloth and light blue metallic vinyl trim from SMS fabrics, exact material as OEM.
I put oversize 15" tires on a new set of American Racing  old school torq thrust wheels. I had to put a new set of station wagon springs on 4 corners to keep from rubbing. Handles and rides great. made the cruise-in at Somerset, KY twice this summer & fall in it. Not bad for $600 car.
If it was a 442, as slid as it is, it would now be a $6000 car, even in the rough.

I was going through a few of my pics. and come to the realization that I may have a fetish for Superchargers. I seem always end up putting them in my cars, boats and motorcycles. Here we build what we ride, and ride what we build, I guess that is why they call it the Motorcity.

I have been watching this thread thinking there are some really sweet rides being posted.  Alien, I like the look of that '32.  Dreamaker, you posted a couple that I really like.

Anyway, I finally got around to digging out a couple of old photos of projects from days gone by.  And I scanned them in so I could post them.  Hope you like.  Sorry about the photo quality.  These are really old pictures.

First is the truck I picked up my last year in high school.  It was a nightmare to drive till I took the body off the butchered up original frame and set it on a 57 chevy frame that my brother and I narrowed 8 inches, shortened 4 inches and set the engine back 12 inches.  It had a 283 in it when I got it but I replaced that with a 327 cubic inch bored .060 with 12.5 to 1 pistons.  For a while I ran a borrowed 66 corvette fuel injection unit.  Later, I ran 2 fours on a tunnel ram.  It all fit neatly under the hood.  Tranny was a borg warner 4 speed with Hurst shifter.  I once had it maxed out on a big 4 lane and the steering input almost completely quit functioning.  It seems the airodynamics were not very good for such high speeds.

Second photo is of the 1965 Jeep CJ5 that I rebuilt the body and added '63 chevy power assist steering, 400 cubic inch small block chevy, 4 speed chevy tranny, and full roll cage.  I used to race this one. still have a couple of the trohpies in my man cave.

Haven't seen anybody else do this yet. My '70 model Club Car 36 volt. Stamped "Ford" on the air horns, which is power by a chrome air filled LaFrance fire extinguisher that you can see just behind the das.. Gutter guard grill with chrome door edge trim from Auto Zone.  '59 Chevy truck turn signal housings with led's for headlights. It has 2" pvc elbows with mg red lenses mounted and led's for tail lights. Boat seats from Bass Pro. Custom lexan roadster winshield. Striping by yours truly, on satin black body w/red wheels.
Had a blast building this with grandson, makes a good parts hauler at the swap meets.

My Dad used to sell AMC during the muscle car era at a high volume dealer in Springfield, MO. He had some rare muscle car demos he liked to drive home. Sold some even rarer Rambler/Scramblers, Rebel Machines, and 401 c.i. AMX's. I could have had my pick as long as I would pay for it. But noooo... I was into Hondas.
I still have a red/white/blue AMX windbreaker from the dealership.

Glad you posted, brings back memories.

One thing about the early mustangs, is they would sag in the middle over time.  Specially the convertibles were noticeable, a few people would bring them to me because I welded, we would lift the center with floor jacks and weld a section of steel tubing and tie the front channel to the rear channel. In convertibles we would arch up the center, then weld the tube in, release the jack and it would end up straight when the car was at rest. Hey it worked, down the road they made kits for that.

Right now I'm working on a 61 Galaxie. Nothin fancy. BUT,,, it IS a 61 Galaxie.
Also there is the pic to the left. We call it the Bugatti. Because it looks like a 1927 Bugatti.
I buy parts for a 1969 VW though, those I can afford, and insure.

Love the old names for the cars back when. All the letters and digits just don't cut it. At least they spelled out "Ninety Eight" in metal and chrome.

Well I will share but unfortunately I don't have any quality pictures of my baby.
This was my first car, I got it just before my 15th B-Day, and I still have it she is barely a garage queen these days but it was the last thing my Mother gave to me other than permission to get married before she passed away when I was 17y/o.
1968 Mustang J code car (302cid, c4 Auto, power steering & A/C) made in Milpitas CA. just a stones throw away from my Home in San Jose. I have found record that it has been run at Laguna Seca race way at some point. I actually found the build slip under the drivers seat mostly rotted but I have some original details. I blew the original motor about a year after I got it it had 128K on the clock and did not like 120mph burn outs well that's what the speedo showed when she sucked a valve and shattered a piston. bout a 302 truck motor spent some cash on it headers carb, intake, ignition and such was a good runner just not much bottom end. drove 135K on that used bottom end before I Decided to start over and along came a 69 351 Windsor,,,,, almost $6,000 later yes that is 6 thousand dollars (that included a custom built C-4) I now have 435+HP and almost 520lbs of torque. .06 over bored and lots of expensive stuff including a semi custom set of mesh intake gaskets that truly added easily 15+ hp. ceramic headers and the list goes ON & ON any way she is a beast oh and it has been totaled twice since I have had it and it had massive front end damage sometime prior to my owner ship still has the scars around the front suspension.

So this is her heart after being shut down and covered up in my garage after 6+ years. She will be out again on the streets mid 2016 or so.

This is the current condition of the paint job I had put on just about 25 years ago now. She has never been waxed, polished twice and only soap and water washed.

This is what she looked like back when I was in High School and after the first motor swap and the first total collision. I am the Fatty with the bushy hair.

I have decided that I will be put to rest in this car no matter the cost.
I have only one other picture of it but cant seem to find it right now.
