Hey yall,  I need to rejet my bike. Was going to put this in the tech section but need to order and wanted some good quick  Responces.  Was wondering how people think about the dyno jet kit and what to order.
Or should I go with Stock.  Cobra makes some too. Dont ask why im rejetting, long story but my gas milage is only around 22 mpg. Running way to rich. Last person opened up the jets.  Any inputs.
Thanks in advance. Rich k

Gonna have to start at the top...  What intake filter and pipes are you running??

With that info, we can get you mighty close to perfect.   cooldude

I think I'd recommend going with standard 100 mains. As for lows I'm still a 35 guy, but, many have good luck with 38s. Pilot settings, 2.25 [35] and 1.5-1.75 [38] to start with.
If the airbox has been hacked up, find a new one.

Also keep in mind that poor mileage can result from simple things like extra shims under the needles, etc.

I have basically the same setup you have except my aftermarket pipes aren't from MarkT. I have the K&N filter w/o the foam prefilter, 4 deg. trigger wheel, is a '98 Tourer and you can see by the photo at the bottom it's essentially an I/S without the fairing....just an adapted HD fairing. I run #38 slow jets instead of the stock #35, stock mains, I/S carb springs and I/S ICM. Generally on the interstate highways, running between 70-75 I'll average in the mid-upper 30's mpg, depending on my load. On the side roads where your speeds are usually a bit slower, I'll often approach 40mpg. If you keep your rpm at or just below 3k, it will make a difference.

My suggestion, stick with stock jets or possibly #38 slow but keep the mains the same. I set my pilot jets at 2 turns out with the 38's, it runs fine and gives good performance throughout. Once that's taken care of, have the carbs sync'd and keep the right wrist under control. These are performance machines and some riders take advantage of that every time they swing a leg over. To me, that's a display of foolishness....you hit the gas and in a block you hit the brakes. Repeated over and over. Dumb! Same for the open highway, I've had riders pass me in a flash while I'm tooling along around 73mph(actual is about 70). Some riders always run at/above 80 all the time....again: Dumb!  Serves no purpose, you gain little in time saved.  So my first admonition would be: Give yourself an HONEST review of your riding habits. If you're of the "run 'n gun" variety, all the other suggestions above are for naught. It's not my age showing here, I've ridden rather conservatively for over 60 yrs. and it has paid off more than once. Good luck, let us know what you find out.  cooldude

Thanks john,  so by this you suggest buying stock jets and not the dyno kit. Not sure what size the dyno jet kit is for the slow carbs?  I probably run a little more aggressivly than needed but just love that ecelleration on the valk.  Tried going real easy and smooth for several tanks and only averaged 24mpg.

Jets can be found at Sudco. If your bike has been rejetted then it may well have adjustable needles. So, you could just reset the needle clip to run a bit leaner.
I don't know about the Dyno jet kit, but, it seems to me that someone's jet kit comes with different size jets for use in front and rear cylinders. Again, I would recommend 100s for the mains and these even run a tad on the rich side.

Before you jump to the conclusion that the richness and poor mileage is purely your jets be sure that your air intake is adequate.  The K&N prefilter can restrict your airflow as can an excess of oil on the K&N.

A good running Valkyrie should get mid to high thirties per gallon.

Instead of buying a "kit"... These guys are much cheaper.

jetsrus.com/a_jets_by_carburetor_type/a_jet_kits_a_selection.htm

I used them to re-jet my Triumph. Mains & Pilots (for all 3 carbs) for about $25 as opposed to nearly $50 per carb for a "kit".
