About 45 minutes ago, I lost my best friend. Shayna was a few months shy of 14 years old and she had been with me since the age of 6 weeks. I got her when I was living in Baton Rouge and we've been together ever since. We hung together through good times and bad like when I was broke in Florida and we were sharing cold corned beef hash in the dark because we didn't have electricity or when I used to put her dog goggles on and take her around on my motorcycle. She was the best, most loving sweet dog that there ever was. My only consolation is that she did not suffer. We played this morning, then she went outside to lay in the sun as she liked to do. That was it. She was my baby girl and Rebecca and I are heartbroken to have to say goodbye to her. Dogs are the kindest souls on this planet and hers was the kindest of all. She will always be top dog in my mind and heart. Goodbye Pretty Girl.  |

Condolences Alien, our furry family once numbered 10...6 dogs and 4 cats. We are down to 3 dogs and still 4 cats. We lost 2 last year and I was with them when they took there trip across the bridge. We are bracing ourselves because the rest are all seniors but seem to be doing ok.
There will be another one in your future that will need you, you will know when the time is right...

I've always believed dogs are one of God's best gift to mankind. They are guardians and friends like 4 legged guardian angels here to watch over, comfort and play with their family.
I'm sorry for your loss, maybe in the future there will be a new pup to help you continue through the years.

Really sorry to hear of your loss. My best friend and fur child Jade passed away about a year ago. The loss is still hard to take but I sure smile when thinking about her. Dogs treated right are truly family.

Got a call from our daughter this morning (0135hrs). Her, (our) cat, Zoie, became paralyzed over night and was obviously in great pain. He was fine at bed time. It was aknown type of occurance, I can't remember the name of it this moment. We had to find an emergency room type of animal clinic at 0135 hrs. We did a few miles from her home. There were no other good options to pick from. He will be missed. He was between 15-20 years old, healthy until last night. Rest in peace Zoie.
Alien, we're pet lovers as you are, we'll be thinking of you in our thoughts and prayers.

There are some sad eyes waiting for you at your animal shelter. What a gift we can give to honor our friends who have passed than to open our heart to another. I have a friend who will be 17 in April and I have the feeling she will be gone by this time next year. I hope when the time comes she can go in her sleep.
